The electric car ‘revolution’ is a disaster before it’s begun

Let me ask you a simple question: Have these downturns ever happened before with gasoline powered cars?

You say they have? So this is cyclical and actually a common occurrence?

Have gasoline powered cars suffered from slumping sales before? They have?

Did any of these factors cause ICE vehicles to cancel production? Yes, they have, and many plants have closed across this country. That's business. No one is immune.

Elon Musk will continue to keep cutting prices when more choices are made available to consumers. Tesla remains the undisputed leader, for now.

Yes, bub. But there is a big problem with EV's. Every 9 to 11 years the whole fleet has to be replaced more or less. Batteries die and they say it is not worth replacing them. That is forever and forever...every 9 to 11 years. I can store a ICE car for decades, pour some gas in and it is in use.

The planet has plenty of oil. Always producing new.

You gotta charge an EV. Earth to loon. Use it if you you can find one that works. I'll use my 35mpg 4CYL. Leave me alone.

Yes, but it is harder to get. Cracking rocks and sifting tar sand. Eventually it will take 1.1 barrels of crude to extract 1 barrel of crude...then what?

Peak oil!

The FHWA states that the average person drives around 13,500 miles per year. It equates to well over 1,000 miles every month.

So, how will an electric car that can only economically be driven 400 miles a month be a 1:1 replacement for a gas powered vehicle?

I meant 400 miles per week. Thats a lot of driving. Thats 20K annual. Easy to do in CA. 52 full charges might cost $520 per yr. If an entire house uses $10/day or $300/month (and car uses same KW charge as a house, but only 10 hrs/week).

Say your gas car is 40MPG. 400 miles takes 10 gal or $50.
A year cost ~$2500 or $2K more per yr than EV.

But EV costs 2X to buy. Another 10 yr payback like solar. Not worth it. Why?

Gas car is fine. GW is a BS govt hoax.

Russia too is demonstrating innovations and resilience in the face of some opposition from a minority of the world.

Other countries are in debt for more than their entire economy is worth!

Cuba's life expectancy is roughly equal or better than America'a and it could be partially due to having clean air to breathe. As well as having free health care on demand for all their people.
Free health care where there are no medicines, you have to bring your own bed linens and toilet paper for hospital stays. Free anything is always worth what you pay for it.

I recently put a 2016 Fusion SE on the road with the EcoBoost 4 banger. Plenty of gallop in that horse.

I have 2015 SE Fusion 4CYL 2.5L? no ecoboost. Plenty enough power to go 26 miles to work, 26 mi back.. ~135K and still front brakes are good. No breakdowns. I keep it up.

Heavy loaded up mtn roads? Your ecoboost will be more horsepower i bet with turbocharger.

I traded a 2011 Fusion SEL with 129K on it. The 2016 is going to last me a while with just 35K on that one. And the 2011 had the 3.0 6 banger.

Not to cast aspersions, but most EV discussions are stupid. People say, "I need a vehicle that does [thus and so], so EV's suck." The point is that they are not ideal for every single driver/owner's needs, but for MOST people - people who put 12k miles on their cars a year, with one or two interstate trips - an EV will provide better performance, fewer headaches, virtually no maintenance, and 75% savings on fuel costs. They will only have to patronize a public charger a couple times a year, and when they do it won't be a problem. They will stop for a charge and a quick meal - 15 minutes - and be on their way.

Maybe they are not ideal for people who live in urban apartments, or farmers, or landscapers who tow their equipment around for 100 miles a day. So what? Every single vehicle out there is good for some people and worthless to others. Badmouthing EV's because they won't meet YOUR needs makes no sense. Don't buy one.

As for EV's seeing a sales drop, there could be a number of good reasons that actually bode well for the industry. Maybe people are waiting for future EV's that are superior to what is available now. Hell, the Silverado EV makes the Ford F150 Lightning look like shit. Musk fans might be waiting for the Cyber Truck, no matter how much longer it takes. People who are paying attention won't buy anything until their own preference is available..

you have no fking clue what happens with others money and performance. Why do you demfks act like you're gods? I don't get it.

then don't mandate them. No one would give a flying fk if not for that threat.
