Socialist Healthcare: Waiting time for a surgery in Spain is now 93 days!

Surgery waiting times in Spain: 93 days, slightly down from 2017

Wow! I waited less than a month from when my insurance approved my back surgery until I got it.
How does Spain's GDP compare to the US?

In-Depth Analysis by Team of UMass Amherst Economists Shows Viability of Medicare For All

“The most fundamental goals of Medicare for All are to significantly improve health care outcomes for everyone living in the United States while also establishing effective cost controls throughout the health care system.

"'These two purposes are both achievable,' says lead author Robert Pollin, Distinguished Professor in economics at UMass Amherst and co-director of PERI. 'As of 2017, the U.S. was spending about $3.24 trillion on personal health care—about 17 percent of total GDP.'

"'Meanwhile, 9 percent of U.S. residents have no insurance and 26 percent are underinsured—they are unable to access needed care because of prohibitively high costs.'

"'Other high-income countries spend an average of about 40 percent less per person and produce better health outcomes. Medicare for All could reduce total health care spending in the U.S. by nearly 10 percent, to $2.93 trillion, while creating stable access to good care for all U.S. residents.'"

Wow so they live to 180 years old now?

Your insurance company approved your back surgery?!?!?! That’s ridiculous. Your doctor has to get the insurance company’s permission to have back surgery.

I went to the doctor. He said I needed to see a knee surgery. He referred me to the knee surgeon and that surgeon decides if I need the surgery. Not the fucking insurance company.
Not only that but your employer gets to decide what insurance you can have

Well in most cases they ARE paying for it. Once again you demonstrate that you simply have no idea how businesses are and MUST be run.

I am commenting on how stupid it is for a country to allow employers to select your health plan

Take it up with FDR. IF an employer pays for it they SHOULD get to select whichever plan they can actually afford to pay for.

Making people wait 3 months will give a certain percentage of the patients time to either get used to the problem and pass on the surgery, have the problem resolve itself, or die. Then the surgery won't need done at all, giving the doctors at the socialized hospital time to view internet smut instead of working during the scheduled surgery time.

Smart move for gold bricking surgeons to let the people wait.

Read the link. The wait times are for cataract surgery. Do many people die of that? And the numbers are skewed by the Canary Islands as well.

And that's Spain. What's the GDP of Spain compared to the US?

Exactly why it makes no sense for employers to put their health needs with a for profit enterprise

The wait is for non emergency surgery
Cataracts, hip replacements, back surgery

A lot of people can die without proper cataract surgery. When a taxi driver friend of mine had it, the doctor told him he would kill himself if he didn't have the surgery done promptly and he did.

What does the GDP of Spain have to do with the price of beans? If their GDP is lower, it should be easier to get surgery done as surgeons get paid less.
