Republican Ken Buck Says Being Gay Is A Choice, And Also Like Alcoholism

No... what you are spouting is unsubstantiated agenda propaganda... point blank

What YOU can tell me, some activist can tell me, or some gay person can tell me is of no consequence... there are indeed very limited things that are reasons behind actions.. and they have been presented to you... and since there is nothing that A) shows a proven gay gene or set of gay genes B) Shows all those claiming to be homosexual having those gene(s), your assumption is nothing more than bullshit
What I am "spouting" is the truth.

Nothing happened to me that would have "caused" my sexual orientation. I simply ALWAYS felt this way from my earliest possible memories.

There is plenty of empirical scientific evidence that points to a genetic predisposition for sexual orientation. Your refusing to believe it isn't MY problem.

No.. what you are spouting is your unsubstantiated feeling and/or opinion... best learn the difference before posting more bullshit like this on here

There is ZERO scientific evidence that is widely held or proven that supports your case... Period.. end of statement
There is plenty of scientific evidence that supports the contention that being gay isn't a choice...and I'll provide it as soon as I hit the miracle 15 post mile. You could google it if you had the "inclination".

I am speaking from personal experience. Eyewitness testimony still holds up in court doesn't it?

Or it could be that you don't have any idea what you are talking about.

Ok... then show what other types of things it can be.... we'll be waiting
I'm too much of a "noob" to post links, but you can start with the APA:

There is no consensus among scientists about the exact reasons that an individual develops a heterosexual, bisexual, gay, or lesbian orientation. Although much research has examined the possible genetic, hormonal, developmental, social, and cultural influences on sexual orientation, no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors. Many think that nature and nurture both play complex roles; most people experience little or no sense of choice about their sexual orientation.

Nice dodge.. the American Psychological Association link is not showing that there are more reasons behind choices in decisions and actions in people...

Again... Genetic (which there is nothing showing any gay gene or set of genes causing homosexuality, and there is nothing showing that those claiming to be gay all share any set of mythical genes)... Learned behavior or pathology... or choice.... those are what molds us and puts us into our behaviors... people can have abnormal choices, etc and not be mentally ill... and what the APA supports is a stance that gays are not mentally ill

No... as shown on here with little offshoot studies and all in the past... there is no overall evidence beyond the whacko claims of a few small studies, which does not constitute proof... you have scientists out there claiming T-Rex is a carnivore hunter, others that say scavenger, and others that say opportunist... all of which are unproven theories... much as your claim is...

Nice try....

Please cite collaborated proof of a gay gene or admit it is a choice or learned behavior/pathology.... simple enough

Your feelings do not constitute proof in court

Seriously?

Why are the people that complain that government has to much power over their lives, trying to have government be the arbiter of what goes on in people's personal lives?

You and whatever number of other men can violate each other's rectums all you wish... I don't give a shit.. nor do I want it made into some crime

I am for getting government out of the marriage business... I am for equal treatment of all those family units recognized by government including inheritance rights, power of attorney in emergencies, tax laws, etc... I am not for some arbitrary redefinition of marriage for the agenda of a few activists and whackos...

I am for recognizing things for what they are... as stated in my first post in this thread... Genetic (which we look for cures for genetic abnormalities continually), learned behavior/pathology, or choice

Does it really matter if it is genetic or a choice?

We live in a free society. How does it harm anyone if someone were to choose to fall in love with someone of their own gender? Marrying someone from a different religion, nationality or race is also a choice. Should we go back to legislating that?

Republican Ken Buck Says Being Gay Is A Choice, And Also Like Alcoholism

GREGORY: In a debate last month, you expressed your support for don’t ask, don’t tell, which we talked about with Mr. Gibbs. And you alluded to lifestyle choices. Do you that believe being gay is a choice?

BUCK: I do.

GREGORY: Based on what?

BUCK: Based on what?

GREGORY: Yeah, do you believe that?

BUCK: Well, I guess you can choose who your partner is.

GREGORY: You don’t think it’s something that’s determined at birth?

BUCK: I think that birth has an influence over it, like alcoholism and some other things, but I think that basically you have a choice.
Video of this after the jump.

Ken Buck certainly showed how much of a clueless moron he is.

Techinically he is partially right.

Being homosexual is not a choice...just like being an alcoholic is not a choice...just like being heterosexual is not a choice.

However, in the case of all three, one can choose to abstain. But, it doesn't change who they are inside.
It is all about choice, you are not born gay, period! It is learned behavor just like alchoholism. Saying that alchoholism is something you are born with is just an excuse to continue the behavior, just like homosexuallity, saying you are born that way is an excuse, period!!!

You right wingers are hilarious. I told you you're racist and homophobes and sexist and you are always calling me a liar. Then you prove you ARE those things. Hilarious!

Republican Party 90% white and mostly Christian.

Only 6% of scientists are Republican and only 9% call themselves "conservative".

Personally, I think that last two numbers are vastly over inflated.
I am proud to be a conservative christian. I am not a homophobe, I just know that it is a sin and not normal behavior.

Vulgarities aside..and it's also interesting that Conservatives like to get so detailed when explaining Homosexuality..something that I want no part of..or think about..really..other then I think government has no place in the bedroom.

And in the same sentence..you want government out of the marriage business? But you are against an "arbitrary redefinition of marriage"? Who defines marriage? And marriage has been around alot longer then religion.

So when we get down to the nitty gritty of any argument with conservatives..they really have nothing but confused messages and vulgar insults.

Which may be fun..but no way to govern.

I could agree with that.

Except the gays want to have it taught to our school children that it is normal. :doubt:

What, like labeling everybody a racist or a homophobe?

Nice try.

Is this some sort of revelation?

I am astounded that people really admit they are so weak that they cant choose what they do.

Its not what you do but what you are....

A homosexual can choose not to have sex, so can you or I

They don't have a choice of who they fall in love with. Nor should they have to

Humans are the only Species that has Sex with it's Dead... Is that a Choice, or were they also Born that way?

:)

Marriage as defined by government means forced acceptance.... marriage as defined by the history of western civilization or culture does not force acceptance, it is what it is... you can accept, you can tolerate, you can do neither... and that is what this modern gay agenda is about.. forced acceptance.... recognition of a choice takes that away from them, for it is perfectly acceptable in a free society to choose to accept or not accept a person on the basis of their choices or actions... I don't have to like what homosexuals choose to do... I don't care either way... but their choices or behaviors do not facilitate a need for forced acceptance by others

Nor do Children need to be Subjected to their Sexual Deviations.

Sally can't have (2) Daddies...

She has one Daddy... And one Mommy, regardless of what those People Chose to do Personally and Selfishly.
