AMALLAH, (PIC)-- Speeches delivered during some marches against the segregation wall and settlement in the West Bank on Friday denounced de facto president Mahmoud Abbas for his intended meeting with Israeli deputy premier Shaul Mofaz.

Following the Friday prayers in Nabi Saleh village, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) used their suppressive means to quell the protestors including foreign activists.

Despite the intensive firing of tear gas grenades, the protestors, however, managed to reach the village spring that was seized by the Israeli occupation and its settlers and forced the settlers to flee the scene.

Some Palestinian young men were also able to reach the military tower at the entrance of the village, opened the main gate and hoisted the Palestinian flag over it.

In Bil'in village, the IOF also violently attacked the weekly march which was dedicated this week to supporting the Palestinian natives of the Jordan Valley and Swsiya areas south of Al-Khalil city.

Weekly marches of W. Bank reject Abbas's meeting with Mofaz

RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- The scheduled meeting on Sunday between PA chief Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli deputy premier Shaul Mofaz was postponed indefinitely, Palestinian sources said.

The sources noted cancellation of the meeting was at the PA request due to the escalating popular rejection of the get-together that was supposed to be held in Ramallah.

A Palestinian activist said that the PA leadership has sensed the growing popular refusal of the meeting and feared that it might get out of control especially in light of the sweeping popular anger of the security coordination between the PA and the Israeli occupation authority.

RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- Seven Palestinian youths including three girls and one journalist were severely beaten by security forces from the Palestinian authority on Saturday afternoon in a protest against Mahmoud Abbas's intended meeting with Israeli deputy premier Shaul Mofaz.

The youth march was intercepted by PA security forces as it was trying to reach the PA headquarters in Ramallah city.

Among the injured was journalist Mohamed Jaradat who was transferred to hospital after his exposure to physical attack by officers from the criminal investigation bureau.

A reporter for the Palestinian information center (PIC) said more than one thousand young men chanting marched in the evening towards the downtown police center to demand the release of their friends who were arrested earlier during the march.

Palestinian activists on Thursday urged the attorney general to arrest Israeli vice prime minister Shaul Mofaz when he visits Ramallah for talks on Sunday.

The activists, who staged a small protest outside the attorney general's office, said Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas should be "ashamed" to meet ex-general Mofaz for talks in the West Bank town.

"We came here today to the attorney general's office to demand the arrest of Mofaz, rather than his reception," activist Ali Obidaat told AFP.

"Mofaz is responsible for crimes against our people in Gaza and the West Bank," he added.
