Poll: Majority of Democrats and Republicans support Medicare for all

Keep plugging away at trying to make healthcare paid by others by making it less affordable. I still have yet to hear any idea other then pie in the sky, unicorns and rainbows as to how to lower costs and pay for universal healthcare. It would be nice if someone that wants it could actually talk about it intelligently.

Sure... Here's how UHC will lower costs.

1) Get rid of the non-productive expenses like shareholder Payouts and CEO Salaries.
2) Reduce the number of paper pushers. Ever been to a doctor's office? You have three people behind the desk that do nothing all day but argue with insurance companies.
3) Reduce the number of people using Emergency Rooms for non-emergency conditions.

Again THE REST OF THE WORLD HAS FIGURED THIS OUT. So when you say, "it can't be done", you forget Canada, the UK, Germany, Japan, France, etc... all of whom have done it just fine.
You seem to have a reading problem. Or perhaps you don't understand English. If that is the problem let me know and I will get a translation for you.

I think that a universal healthcare would be great.

You still have not come up with a viable way to fund what you are talking about.

You still have not stated what you actually want. Is it Medicare or is it single payer? Is it some form of them both?

ONE MORE TIME. THEY ARE PAYING DOUBLE OR MORE WHAT THE AVERAGE AMERICAN PAYS IN INCOME TAX!!! I have NEVER said it can not be done. I have said that the ONLY way I can see it being paid for is by increasing income tax. The problem is too many are not willing to pay the tax increase.

If you can not address what I have written don't bother replying because you are just playing at sticking your fingers in your ears and yelling things that make no difference and half of it is bull that you have made up.

The only thing that bothers me about government healthcare is giving them the ability to control the populous.

Look at what Bamunism did when his wife was concerned that people are too fat; as if that's any of her business.

She had her husband create a law that all restaurants had to post calorie count on every food item they sell.

She took over school lunches creating menus that no kid in their right mind would ever buy yet alone eat.

Bloomberg tried to stop stores from selling large soda drinks.

These people have proven over and over again they cannot be trusted with power, because they will abuse it or use the ability to try and control our lives. If your drunken neighbor asks if he can borrow your car, you don't hand him the keys.
Unfortunately we as a nation have raised uninformed, self centered, entitled children. They do not understand that there is no such thing as a free lunch. They hear Bernie spouting off and assume that not only does he have good ideas but that it is a simple matter to implement them. They do not know that he has never done anything but be a leech all his life.

Most were born or grew up when our industries were starting to relocate so they are all too familiar with parents and loved ones being laid off. They have seen and lived through the last recession. They have heard the last clown in the White House tell everyone that they were never going to get better. With what they are familiar with is it any wonder that they took that to heart? They have never seen capitalism really work the way it used to work.

While I believe that capitalism is still better then socialism until we can prove that by reversing the damage done by years of neglect and some outright sabotage to capitalism then we will have to deal with the call for socialism.

I tend to agree that having government in charge of anything is a very bad idea. But we allowed ACA to be enacted. The only way it will ever be removed is by replacing it with a proper healthcare system.to say that ACA was the worst idea would be an understatement. There are not enough four letter words to describe how bad it is.

Unfortunately for everyone I do not think that ACA will ever be replaced or repealed because I do not feel that those that want the universal healthcare are willing to actually pay for it. Bernie has convinced them that the government can pay for it out of some magical pile of money. Even those that want it will not allow unfettered debt. Though it may take some convincing before they see the truth.

If memory serves me right, it was the late John McCain who actually stopped the repeal--or mini repeal of Commiie Care.

That could change after November. Even with the resistance, Trump has already rid us of those torturous fines on individuals and companies alike.

But even if we did repeal it, replace it with what? Any other kind of replacement would involve more government, and that's exactly what the Democrats want.

Is there a middle ground between public and private healthcare systems in the US? Sure there is. People with preexisting conditions that cannot buy private at a reasonable price be allowed to buy into Medicare. That removes all the high risk and high cost people out of the insurance market and would lower costs for the younger or more healthier people in the pool. Medicare is very reasonable expense wise, and that would eliminate the problem we have with Commie Care where it's too expensive to buy a plan for middle-class working people.

Americans support Medicare for all

Dems support Medicare for all

Republicans support Medicare for none

Pretty clear there

You keep trying to make it about party. It is not party it is more about who is smart enough to realize there is a real cost involved and that cost has to be paid. There are those that do not want the country to go bankrupt just so people can have a Medicare for all for the few years that it can be paid for.

I am a Republican and I support a sustainable single payer program. I know others that agree with me so it is not about party.

'A Reuters/Ipsos poll shows 85% of Democrats and 52% of Republicans support Medicare for all.

Why it matters: This single-payer system has divided the Democratic Party internally and gave Republicans a new way to attack Democrats in 2018. But this poll is the first to suggest that a majority of Americans on both sides of the aisle actually like this policy and that it could be a winning issue for candidates.

By the numbers: Two-thirds of Democratic nominees in 41 battleground House districts "want to expand the government’s role in healthcare," per Reuters.

  • At least 70 House Democrats have joined the "Medicare for All" caucus, with more expected after the November midterms.
  • And most House Dems support a Medicare for All bill, which has "six members of the Blue Dog caucus of fiscally conservative Democrats signing on as co-sponsors," Reuters notes.
Be smart: This policy is only going to get more attention as we head into the 2020 presidential election, when it will likely be a litmus test for Democratic candidates.'

For better or worse - like it or not, sooner or later - it looks like single payer will become a fact of life in America.

Won yourself another poll did you sparky ? Lol what do you get for those? Show us your poll trophy for the hillary is gonna win poll you soceasily won.

if you morons think single payer is the future...
If the GOP keeps whistling past the graveyard, Single Payer is what we're going to get.

Unfortunately, the American Right is in its own little dreamworld right now and has lost the capacity to communicate.
.

Good people are done trying to reason with the unreasonable. Good people don’t negotiate and make deals with filth. Your party has officially lost all their shit. They’ll continue to grow their constituency among degenerate filth, illegals and barely legals, bottom feeders and lowlifes, pole puffers and men in dresses...but NOBODY truly legitimate wants any part of that disgusting, unAmerican group.
That sums up just a part of their problems and they need to clean up the act and reset it.

But we solved that problem, don't you remember? Commie Care????

Not really. A lot of states didn't provide the support required and fought it tooth and nail.

You really are dumb, aren't you. We did it your way, and when your way didn't work, you whine about how it didn't work. ACA was Warmed-Over Romney-Care. We wanted single payer, a public option and Medicare Buy in, but you guys shot all those ideas down.

They could have passed anything they wanted. Not one Republican voted for Commie Care which means that if they had a Medicare buy in and single payer, Republicans still couldn't have stopped it.

But as typical of the left, every time their policies fail, try to find a way to blame it on Republicans. You know, that battered wife syndrome?

Again, it was your policy that Mitt Romney advocated.. all the way up until the Black Guy did it.

Sorry you don't understand the difference between state governments and the federal government. The federal government is supposed to provide what's outlined in the Constitution and no more. States can do whatever they want as long as it doesn't violate the US Constitution.

It's also too bad you don't understand the difference between RomneyCare and Commie Care; major differences. Here, in the event you ever want to educate yourself:

I did customer service for an insurance company that did medicare part d

2-3 times a week we each got a caller telling us they weren't dead.

that's right, the government, with no proof, declared someone dead and cancelled their insurance.

It takes at least 3 months to prove you are not dead. Good luck buying all your medications, getting operations, getting a doctors appointment.

keep in mind, that was just for the people that had part d, now imagine nearly 40 million Americans using a single program.

if you morons think single payer is the future...
The government messes up anything it touches. Just look at the social security issues. Think of all the money individuals have paid into that program through the years, only to have the program on the edge of bankruptcy. Anyone that wants to send their hard-earned money to the government to "distribute" to social programs must be daft.

No need. ObamaCare was National RomneyCare.

And in 2008, Romney said that we should do it on a national level, and Republicans were fine with that.

Romney got more shit for being a Mormon in 2008 than he got for proposing universal health care.

Then the Black Guy got in and gave us universal health care and guess what happened.

Romney totally disowned his own plan, went back and rewrote his book calling for national RomneyCare.

And Evangelicals suddenly forgot that Romney was a Mormon or why the hate Mormons so much.

But fuck, Romney could have sacrificed virgins to C'Thulhu and the Evangelical stupids would have gotten behind him.

Agreed. SS sends out pamphlets every now and then listing all the contributions you and your employer made throughout the years. If you take that pamphlet to a reputable investment company and ask them to run the numbers, you would realize just how much of a ripoff SS is. If you are younger, ask them to calculate what you would be worth at the age of 65 if all that SS money went into a conservative growth fund. If you are older, ask what you would be worth today.

Chances are if you are older, you would have enough in your account to live off the interest alone by the time you reach 65. Then when you pass away, you can give that money to heirs. Right now, if you die before you collect any SS money, your family won't see a dime of it.

For shits and grins, I looked at it, and really, no major differences.

The key points.

Everyone has to buy coverage.
Insurance companies have to cover all procedures, even pre-existing conditions.
Government subsidizes you if you can't afford insurance.

Little things like "contraception is covered" are minor.
