Rats are not domesticated animals. They are not pets. They are at most an oddity as a kept animal.
How long have you been in America, now?
All my life, you idiot. Rats are not pets. They are vermin that social misfits and the mentally feeble who want to convince themselves they are 'unique' keep at home despite the fact that they are not domesticated animals. The same kind of idiots who think a snake or a turtle has feelings for them, and not too far down the spectrum from the people who are sooner or later ripped to pieces by their 'pet' baboon or such.
