Janet Napolitano is probably getting some satisfaction from the fact that reality has proven the bulletin issued by her Homeland Security department last year -- warning that the nation was about to be hit by a fresh wave of right-wing extremism and its attendant violence -- has proven all too prescient.
Especially the part where it warned that these extremists were working hard to recruit military veterans:
Returning veterans possess combat skills and experience that are attractive to rightwing extremists. DHS/I&A is concerned that rightwing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to boost their violent capabilities.
At the time the bulletin was issued, the right-wing media put up a hue and cry claiming that DHS was smearing veterans as potential terrorist threats, and demanding Napolitano's head. And even though Napolitano rebutted their nonsense, the conventional-wisdom talking point out of the affair was that DHS had unfairly smeared folks in the military.
Now it's clear that the Pentagon is aware that it has a problem: From Stars and Stripes:
The Pentagon is cracking down on extremism in its ranks with a new set of rules restricting servicemembers from participating on the Web sites of supremacist groups.
A new Defense Department directive on dissident and political activity issued on November 27 — the first since 1996 — says servicemembers “must not actively advocate supremacist doctrine, ideology, or causes.” This includes writing blogs or posting on Web sites.

You are an idiot. The Military has always had those rules they are just updating them and reminding the military members they can not participate in hate groups.

Other than hating on our finest, I'm not sure what the point to this thread might be.

Since you obviously have never dirtied your hands in any fashion with the defense of the nation, I'll bring you up to speed. Everything you might think about doing or not doing while serving is covered in some way by the UCMJ.

That the left makes hay about the restrictions service members volunteer to have placed on them that they may more effectively serve, reveals the magnitude of the libtard's depravity and uselessness for any worthwhile purpose.

There was similar reports and such a few years ago concerning left-wing extremists as well.

The sarge is right, they issue these every time some unpopular legislation gets passed or is in the works. If its right leaning administration its left-wing extremists, eco-terrorists, or social radicals. If its a left leaning administration its right-wing extremists, religious zealots, corporate funded terrorists or whatever else is popular to frighten people.

I have been at my job in one capacity or another for 21 years and seen 2 republican and 2 democrat administrations. And each one of them changed the names of the problematic groups and types, but they all had them just the same. As a data analyst I got to see the military and the regular governments responses to it.

Things like this work two-fold. They do a great bit of PR and free positive press. And they give the military something to practice for. Its unhealthy and unwise to have active military spec-ops people with nothing to do...

All I see is yet more fear-mongering from 'crooks and liars' (seems like they refer to themselves rather than their ability to out the 'crooks' and 'liars).

Infiltrating? Are 'extremists' infiltrating the military? No. It is just another bullshit "news" story. And, for not knowing that, Proletarian is an ass.

This whole policy reminder was pretty much in response to the "Armed Forces Tea party Patriot" thing. The Marine who started that site on FaceBook did nothing wrong but since he identified himself as a Marine some douche bag left winger complained to the authorities....so he was reminded of the policy.

Another thing....I could care less about supremacist groups. If military members choose to participate in these types of activities it's perfectly legal as long as they don't wear their uniform or break any laws. They still retain their 1st Amendment rights when out of uniform.

All this is ...is more attacks on anti-Obama sentiment within the populace. We can't have anyone challenging The Barry and his eurotrash socialist agenda now can we.
