Why does the Government have anything to do with it? And it all sounds very fishy anyway. There are no "volunteer" Taxes. That sounds like a silly fairy tale. Forcing all to pay a Tax is not a volunteer Tax. Make any sense to you? The Government needs to get a life. Just stay out of the Christmas Tree business period. Then they might have a chance of staying in business.
All i know after baling, delivery, set up and a tip for the 3 guys.... it was always close to 9 hundred bucks for our tree. (big tree) Another 15 cents would not have made that much difference at that point.
That being said a tax on trees is a totally fucked up thing.

This is a Department of Agriculture Tax. So it is a Government Tax and it obviously isn't voluntary. If it was just a fee charged by this association then it could be voluntary. But it's the Government levying a Tax instead. And i'm not even sure he has the authority to do this. This is definitely very strange. So i'm skeptical. And now he's backing off on it. Something is wrong with this picture.

On a 30 dollar tree, that's 18 times a 15 cent fee.
