Or it looks like Republican members of the gang of 8 were willing to believe the information from McCabe was truthful and free of corruption. As more information was uncover from congressional oversight and it was discovered the FBI had been investigating TRUMP long before Comey was fired. The Comey firing was beening used as a cover for the FBI having previously launched an investigation without informing Congress, we know this from testimony given by Comey.

Rosenstein screwed McCabe by appointing a special council which removed control of the investigation from McCabe and the FBI. Rosenstein screwed up again when he wrote the first scope memo allowing Mueller to investigation "any matters," which inevitably lead to matters involving crimes by the Hillary campaign and corruption involving the FBI, knowing he (Rosenstein) was involved in the corruption Rosenstein had to write a second scope meme only giving Mueller authority to investigate TRUMP or members of his campaign.

McCabe, Comey and Rosenstein have conflicting stories and all know any one of they could be set up as the fall guy ignorer to save the "institution".
