It’s true most Jewish Democrats are not one-issue voters and many truly would never vote for a Republican. But few are being fooled by Democratic attempts to get them to ignore their own gut feelings about the president. The Democrats are bleeding Jewish support and fundraising. The only question now is how great the decline in Jewish votes for Obama will be next year.

From the stats I've seen, it looks like overall approval rating has dropped 3-8 percentage points (depending on who you ask), but the 'trust' that Jews have in his handling of Israel dropped quite a bit more.

I've noticed the headlines differ between major organizations - whoever is right says 'losing support', and left say 'holding steady'. Depends on if you're counting 'approve' or 'disapprove' (some have no answer).

Also, if Obama weren't worried about it, he wouldn't be frantically catering to Jews across the big cities.

It would take something BIG for Jews to leave Obama, though. We're not likely to abandon the party and our values easily, but if Obama is painted as an antisemite, it could work.

Now the reason why American Jews probably won't abandon Obama over Israel is because they don't care about Israel. They are the distant cousins they stopped caring about years ago. Israel will inevitably be eliminated by sheer demographics. The Arab populations is growing, the Jewish population isn't. If we can just keep them from nuking each other until they learn to deal, that would be an accomplishment.

Frankly, I have always been amused that so-called conservatives have taken as part and parcel the subsidy by the American taxpayer of this socialist religious state in the middle east. This is how the NeoCons have infested our party.

I beat up on religion because frankly, I think it's stupid. There is probably isn't a God, and even if you accept there is one, silly fights over who owns some strip of desert wouldn't matter much to a cosmic being with a 14 billion year plan to make a universe. By your own definition, such a being would be above such fights.

Israel was created because a lot of people felt bad because of what the Nazis did, and if the world had voted to give them a chunck of Germany to set up a Jewish State in, that would be just. Instead, they gave them a chunk of someone else's land. Someone who had no hand in the original crime.
