Depends. Many such people here equate any government spoending - military, police, fire, courts, etc - to socialism; as they support this spending, they are, by their own definition, sociaists.

Beyond that, many look for the state to own/control as much of the means of producing and distributing wealth as possible, and are very supportive of the redistribution of wealth thue the wefare state - and so, are unquestionably socialists.

Black Americans are disproportionately lower income than the average American. Conservative policies are disproportionately detrimental to lower income Americans,

therefore those policies do or would have a disproportionate negative impact on black Americans.

If you are low income, of any color, conservatives want to take away (all or in part) your food stamps, your Medicaid, your heat/energy assistance, your housing assistance, your education assistance, your minimum wage, your tax breaks, your affirmative action where it applies, your union rights where they apply, and probably quite a few other things I"m not thinking of off-hand...

...and all that with the conservative promise that your life will get better once you're deprived of all of it.

Nobody is advocating taking away their only means of support, I'm advocating allowing them to live up to their full potential. When I moved to Chicago in 1965, we were poor, homeless and didn't qualify for food stamps because we were staying with relatives. My mom tended bar, saved enough $ for a security deposit, had the lights turned on and we slept on pallets on the floor, no furniture. Only then were we eligible for assistance, which we had for 6 months. By that time my mom had completed job training, we no longer needed assistance and never did again. She raised 4 daughters by herself, working every day, sometimes 2 jobs at a time. She refused to believe she had to stay in that environment.

Government assistance is SUPPOSED to be TEMPORARY, not generational.

Yeah... I agree... temporary. Only thing is, Policies your side supports keeps people on the gubmint dole, then you bitch that it's their own fault they are on the gubmint dole.

I know.. Businesses shouldn't be patriotic... it's all about the money. They should be allowed to go elsewhere for slave labor rather than paying a decent wage, they should be allowed to invest those foreign made profits outside of the country so it doesn't get taxed.

When are you going to realize that killing the workforce then blaming the workforce for their own demise is not a winning strategy. Politically or otherwise. The only people it benefits are people who would be rich beyond most of our wildest dreams regardless.

.....Those same people who are constantly preaching free & fair competition.

The writer of that piece is probably just someone who is really only exposed to conservatives on websites such as this. If I judged all republicans by the small sample that post here I would have a pretty jaundiced view. I realize that the truly hateful ones are a minority, the ones who are seemingly in it for the wealth of targets for their frustration at not becoming a billionaire or whatever rationale they use. While I understand the entire conservative movement values these zealots for their dedication they do make them look pretty bad on occasion when they say horrible things and no one calls them out for it. These ultra conservative people who actually do hate all these groups for whatever reason takes the silence of their peers as agreement and therefore makes the whole group look bad. Start calling out some of these horrible people because your political rivals see silence as agreement also.
