Since the day Trump was elected, I've been concerned he'd be so over-the-top that the Democratic Party's response would be over-the-top, too. Sure enough, that's what we've seen. And, predictably, ugly politics now pollute damn near every part of our society.

But I've also been hoping that just enough sanity would remain in the party that it would be able to see some boundaries. Maybe that's happening now, too: Centrist Democrats rethink alliances as Biden crumbles

This madness has spawned the rise of nutters like AOC, Talib & Omar, not to mention this largely whacko crop of "presidential candidates", especially Bernie and Warren. Maybe the more pragmatic elements of the party still have enough influence to stop the freakin' madness.

Here's hoping.

From the linked piece:
“If Bernie ends up being one of these frontrunners, he’ll have to moderate. I’m not going socialist. Never been a socialist,” Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) said. “If he doesn’t change, I’ve got a dilemma there. We’ll see. But we’re talking about hypotheticals. I think there’s going to be a lot happening between now and then.”

The soul-searching within the establishment wing of the Democratic Party comes after Sanders solidified his frontrunner status in Iowa and New Hampshire, which produced a pair of cringeworthy finishes for Biden. The former vice president did so poorly in New Hampshire that he ditched his own election night watch party to head to South Carolina, possibly giving an opening to Bloomberg, who skipped the first four contests.

“I’m feeling a momentum shift to Bloomberg right now,” said Rep. Lou Correa (D-Calif.), who endorsed Biden in the summer and plans to stick with him.

One of the most glaring examples of the change in tide on Capitol Hill is a trio of Bloomberg endorsements from the Congressional Black Caucus on Wednesday — a not-so-subtle show of force against Biden, who remains the favored candidate among black voters nationally.

.

Let's Review.

In order to beat Trump who promotes Patriotism, America First, Freedom, Upward Mobility, Deregulation...

The Democrats fielded The Following.

A Radical Socialist Effeminate Homosexual who wants to take your guns, who wants to implement The Green New Deal, who wants to Bankrupt America by increasing Government Debt by 500% and give money to Couch Potatoes.

A Radical Millionaire Communist who Got Rich off of Big Government who wants to expand the size of Government by 500% so he can build Gulags, and Guillotines, and confiscate the wealth of this country, take all of your weapons and throw everyone in work camps.

A Radical Dirty Billionaire who was recruited to help The Broke Ass Dems to circumvent Campaign Finance. Who Hates Black People, Who Wants To Increase Government Spending by 500% so that we can embrace The Green New Scam, and continue killing Babies.

A washed up Senile Stuttering Deep State VP who enriched him and his family through graft, bribery and extortion, who does not know what state he is in.

NO they aren't waking up to anything.

They are going even further to the Left and are MORE BLIND THAN EVER.
The point is that (a) there are Democrats who are warning that the party has gone too far, and (b) there are many in party who are apparently warming to Bloomberg as a way to avoid Bernie.

Neither party is a complete monolith, even though both may seem like it at times.
.
I'm not a dem but I am a never Trumper, and I'd probably vote for a Knight Templar roasting a baby if that was the option to Trump (-:

But I thought Biden was a fake candidate the minute I heard of what Hunter was up to, and that was before Trump went amuck in Ukraine. Biden ran as the "anti-Trump whose heart was pure."

I thought months ago that only Bloomberg posed any threat to Trump. The general election is really in: NV AZ FL NC MN WI MI PA NH MAine. Bernies lack of any cred with blacks isn't going to hurt him in the South if he's the nominee. But I just don't see how Bernie gets those dem suburban voters who stayed home for Hillary. Not with his Medicare for All plan.

But Bloomberg is gonna have to explain to blacks in Mil, Michigan and PA why he ordered his cops to stop and frisk blacks a million times even when everyone knew the % of times they actually found firearms was less than 1%.
As Bloomberg explains in his now infamous audio clip, the purpose was not to catch people with guns but to discourage people from carrying guns. The theory is that if fewer people are carrying guns there will be fewer shootings. The issue is not whether it worked on not, but that in trying to prove it is not just racial profiling, Bloomberg, in a spectacular show of arrogance and insensitivity, makes it sound like it is racial profiling. If you have looked at his various apologies for these remarks now, he says, in effect, that while he believes in individual rights in principle, they are just too inconvenient in practice.

I can understand you don't see anything unusual about Trump and his behaviors. I get it. To you, the cartoonish hyperbole, constant personal attacks and general instability are perfectly normal.

But for the majority, they are indeed unusual (even some Trumpsters have the balls to admit it), and the point is that the response from the hard Left would be similar.

Your argument is chicken and eggs. What came first? Your assumption is Trump made the Dims get all unhinged. Okay. Maybe the Dims were already unhinged? Did that possibility cross your mind?

Many did not like Obama but the level of hatred and outright hostility directed to Trump is literally insane. The examples are too numerous to mention.

Mac there is being fair and there is being stupid. With this post you crossed that line. :)

maybe, but Manchin showed who he really reports to on the impeachment vote.

all it would take is for one democrat senator to say: I'm done with this bullshit, it is destroying our party, I am going to sit down with Trump and try to work on things that will benefit the american people. any candidates to take that step?

Trump is the flip side to Bernie. Both parties had a revolution by the peasants ….. and typically nothing really changed besides the peasants getting to beat the shit out of each other and even kill a few.

Bloomberg's 1.5 million or so unconstitutional frisks was uniquely NYC. There aren't many guns on the street there, which is why even the cops were saying "this is wrong" when maybe 1 in 100 had a weapon. But it did have the effect of terrorizing the relatively few bad guys as well as the vast maj of just guys minding their own business with their friends totally in the open and not skulking around in the dark like gangs.

But he wasn't "coming after our guns" as the 2nd Amend whackos like to say. Carrying on the street was already VERY illegal in NYC and had been for decades. And people in NYC LIKE IT THAT WAY

People feared the "bad days" of pre-Ghouliani would return. Bloomberg shut that down. the problem is that it was unconstitutional racial profiling, and people do have a right to stand outside their homes and pass the time of day with neighbors. Bloomberg did it to the blacks because he could. He should have found a less unconst means, that enlisted the blacks who didn't want crime either.

I wish I could get you guys to think more than about half an inch deep.

Trump didn't make the Dems do anything. They lost their shit all on their own. He was merely the excuse.

I know you guys are used to having things explained to you 'n stuff, but I just don't have the patience.
.
When Mac is saying Trump didn't make the democrats do anything.....

Is Mac admitting there was no conclusion?

Even if I asked Mac if he believed that Trump somehow colluded with Russia to steal the election from the disgraceful witch in a pants suit, he would not answer.

Admittedly, it would be a rhetorical question on my part, but even if it wasn't, he still would not answer it and we would all know why.

So Mac, do you? Do you believe Trump colluded with Russia?

Watch this everyone.

I don't like Bloomberg, but he simply told the truth about who is committing most of the crime in our big cities. sorry if that truth offends you.
It doesn't offend me, but I thought the way he expressed it was particularly arrogant and insensitive. Imagine you are a young black male living in a black neighborhood and you are being viewed with suspicion by police and stopped and frisked only because you are black, how can you vote for someone who is completely indifferent to how all this makes you feel? How can Democrats in general vote for him while at the same time claiming to be the champions of black people?

Even if everything he said is true, there are two truths here; the other truth is that it provides a daily degrading and humiliating experience for young black men who are innocent. So Bloomberg, at best, told only half the truth.
