Is the Democratic Party waking up?

Since the day Trump was elected, I've been concerned he'd be so over-the-top that the Democratic Party's response would be over-the-top, too. Sure enough, that's what we've seen. And, predictably, ugly politics now pollute damn near every part of our society.

But I've also been hoping that just enough sanity would remain in the party that it would be able to see some boundaries. Maybe that's happening now, too: Centrist Democrats rethink alliances as Biden crumbles

This madness has spawned the rise of nutters like AOC, Talib & Omar, not to mention this largely whacko crop of "presidential candidates", especially Bernie and Warren. Maybe the more pragmatic elements of the party still have enough influence to stop the freakin' madness.

Here's hoping.

From the linked piece:
“If Bernie ends up being one of these frontrunners, he’ll have to moderate. I’m not going socialist. Never been a socialist,” Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) said. “If he doesn’t change, I’ve got a dilemma there. We’ll see. But we’re talking about hypotheticals. I think there’s going to be a lot happening between now and then.”

The soul-searching within the establishment wing of the Democratic Party comes after Sanders solidified his frontrunner status in Iowa and New Hampshire, which produced a pair of cringeworthy finishes for Biden. The former vice president did so poorly in New Hampshire that he ditched his own election night watch party to head to South Carolina, possibly giving an opening to Bloomberg, who skipped the first four contests.

“I’m feeling a momentum shift to Bloomberg right now,” said Rep. Lou Correa (D-Calif.), who endorsed Biden in the summer and plans to stick with him.

One of the most glaring examples of the change in tide on Capitol Hill is a trio of Bloomberg endorsements from the Congressional Black Caucus on Wednesday — a not-so-subtle show of force against Biden, who remains the favored candidate among black voters nationally.

I do not blame trump for democrat party insanity

blame it on entrenched marxists in the public schools molding young minds into good little socialists

but the transformation is not complete

the dems appear to be split down the middle between radicals and more centrist liberals

if bernie wins many dem voters will be turned off

but if bernie does not win the nomination the bernie bots will riot in the streets
Bernie's Brown Shirts will riot
Bernie could get the nomination

as the frontrunner he will be hard to stop
Unless he get terminally depressed about offending Hillary. He might want to invest in a food taster

Pharmaceutical companies are not fans of using their own money for research.

Where on earth do you get your information? Pharmaceutical companies spend hundreds of million of dollars on research, most of which never makes it to market. They have a short window to make their money on the drugs that do make it before generics are released.

I gave an example. You can address that or not. Was I wrong?

Slight difference is that while Trump's antics can be unusual, his policies aren't. The antics of the left's candidates may not be as unusual, but their policies will "fundamentally change the US", according to Sanders. Sorry, but people need to wake up and be adults. Get over the hatred for Trump, the person, along with some of his childish antics, and focus on his policies, which are, in a very large part, working. If one of the left gets elected, he/she may be a smooth talker and say all the things that gives you that warm, gushy feeling, but the country will collapse both economically and socially.

His policies are the same Republican Rat Poison they've been feeding us since Nixon that have destroyed the Middle Class.

He's just more open about the racism to get those last few stupid white people to vote against their own economic interests.
Name a specific racist policy.
You have posted many times that Brown people can’t manage without White people.

Anyone that would hire on and defend Stephen Miller as an advisor has problem with people of color.
I asked for a specific policy.
I have worked with racists who were not allowed to express such in policy.

Did you hire racists to advise you?

No; they were there before I came onboard.
Wall Street is fraught with racists.

Well that is a sad comment on Wall Street but most certainly explains lots of things. Wall Street runs the country now so I suppose what a president is, is irrelevant.

My position all along has been that Trump may not be racist but he knows he has to appeal to the racist to win and you have enforced that position.

He appealed to employing Americans in America.
I know that upsets a Portfolio Worshipper such as yourself.

If he had done that he would have addressed why we are not. He did not. He appealed to Wall Street.

Mac seems to be a limp wristed troll! :p Mac, respond to the responses you democrat nerd! :p
Talk radio talking points from hypersensitive Trumpian drama queens notwithstanding, this thread is about the current state of the Democratic Party.

If you have a question to ask, ask it. If you have a point to make, make it.

Otherwise you're just burning bandwidth, again.

Trump did not appeal at all to Wall Street, he appealed to those replaced by cheap foreign labor.

Imo you're entire thesis that Trump is somehow the reason for the dems lurching leftwards is belied by the fact that Bernie was running before Trump was a blip on the radar. The assumption was it was Hillary v. Jeb in a replay of basically ever election since 1992.

And if not for Nader, W never would have been president. The dissent among the dems by the progressives who didn't buy into the DLC "moderation to beat Reaganism" never really died. In fact the dems split pretty nastily between Carter and Ted in 1980.

I don't for a minute believe the Bernie revisionist history that had the D's somehow played "fair" he'd have won. Hillary killed him with the Southern States. And we're talking BIG states here. Texas, Fla, VA, Ga. A lot of delegates. It's not Montana or Wyoming. Even Ark and Miss outnumber Mont and Wyo … and Idaho and SD and ND.

The only path for victory for him is the same as Trump's path in 16 (even with the gop winner take all format) and multiple non-insurgent establishment types have to split the black vote. Bernie's policies of medicare for all, free college, Palestinian rights don't play. I'm not even sure about a higher minimum wage.
The black unemployment rate just hit a record low, but there’s a catch

Trump's been successful in capturing the gop because he expanded the base into the disaffected white working class, but the Never Trumpers woke up to see Mitch McConnell run train on the dems with the gop dream of tax cuts for the rich and a judiciary more interested in ending abortion rights and upholding traditional notions of due process and equal rights.

Trump immediately signed an EO stopping IT Business Visas and sending many home.
Bill Gates, etc... have been lobbying since day 1.

Negative Interest don’t bother me because the scum don’t deserve to make money after scamming the tax payers for 30 years.

Negative interest rates will largely hurt those who actually worked for 30 years and saved for retirement.
