I've never met anyone who is PRO-abortion. Have you? However, I knows lots of folks who are PRO-choice.

The pro lifers love to insist that pro choicers are pro death, like we want to force every pregnant woman to have an abortion.

I am always amazed that they show all this concern about Zygotes, and not much about actual children.

They oppose

Family and Medical Leave.
Expanding SCHIF
Expanding TANF
Expanding Head Start
Universal health care
School Lunches

Now, you can make an argument that a lot of these programs are badly managed, but the modern "conservative" movement is against them on principle.

I agree with this post.

I think we should be taking a hard look at family life and balance.

And some of these programs might be useful. The problem is, as you say, they generally are mismanaged.

I'm all about cutting down on abortions and I can get everyone to agree to the fact that one way to cut the number of abortions in half is to reduce (to one half) the number of women showing up at abortion clinics.

How do you do that ?

You take care of the family.

Democrats will stay on social issues because their economic policies have been abysmal.
The RNC platform should steer clear of social policy and concentrate on "kitchen table" issues.
I have stated many times that the GOP must steer clear of social policy because invariably the issue of religion and abortion always shows up. Keep social issues on the back burner and the country is awakened to the important issues such as employment, economic growth, home values and business growth.

The 10th amendment should be a huge part of the GOP platform and the position should be....go fight your social issues on a state level. We will try to get supreme court who will follow the constitution so you can do that.

Maybe they should let about 200 unemployed people sit in the front and listen to them talk about abortion rights.

Well I certainly hope they devote one night, or at least a significant portion of one, to partial-birth abortion. Lastly, I am 100% against wholesale abortions. But the GOP has gone extreme with their platform.
