Could It Be That Many Conservatives Are Getting As Bad As Liberals?

In being on this forum a few years now, I've noted that most of the total idiots are on the Left. But over time I've been surprised that some conservatives I thought were fairly intelligent and reasonable people go off into deep end just as badly with loony conspiracy theory about the Moon being hollow or even shooting a victim not just until they are subdued and helpless, not even stopping after they are down, but even continue firing into the person until they totally stop MOVING.

Let me start spraying you with 9mm fire and see if you just lay there unmoving not reacting to the pain or trying to protect yourself. If it is a .45, you might still move just from the hydrostatic shock.

BOTTOM LINE: Many on the Left ARE communist and socialist sympathizers who want anarchy and hate their country, but there are enough on the Left that are real bloodthirsty violent Neocons as well. I've even been stalked by a few.

What I've noticed is that while there are quite a few intelligent and reasonable people here, nearly all conservative, for many, when push comes to shove, when it really gets down to it, when a lot of conservatives or maybe republicans or "Right-Wing" disagree, their methods are NO BETTER than the worst on the Left.

Yep. Seeing the similarities in the two ends of the spectrum is much easier when you look at behaviors instead of issues.

Both ends demonstrate the same behaviors as naturally as they breathe: Tribalism, deflection, distortion, denial, hyperbole, straw man arguments, intellectual myopia, outright lies, hypocrisy, avoidance, willful ignorance, obtuseness, personal insults, name calling, the list goes on and on.

It's almost they get trained at the same place. Maybe they get group rates at the hotel.

Our wingers are killing us, and until/unless they start holding their own accountable for their behaviors, this just gets worse.

The only things that matter, really, are whether or not posters have a decent respect for facts, and have the ability - and the willingness to put in the effort - to conceive of a coherent, pertinent argument.

I might even agree with you on the diagnosis that this place - say, its debate culture - is in freefall. Indicative of that decline would be starting out with "most of the total idiots are on the Left", which effortlessly leads to the counter, "No, most of the total idiots are on the Right." No, I've run into a few people here that had valid views on many conservative issues then proved to be absolute LOONS, others that BRAGGED about what great "conservatives" they were then showed they were flaming buttholes. Worst of all, often simply over differences of viewpoint or opinion.

It made me realize its NO WONDER why many on the Left think so poorly of the Right.

I know I sometimes use a lot of foul language and names at people, but a lot of it is simply to throw back in their face a taste and reflection of what it is like talking to them that maybe they will get the message and GROW UP and start agreeing to disagree more like mature adults.

Since this is the only "social media" I've ever belonged to other than professional and science groups where everyone is polite, professional and capable of self-restraint, I cannot say, other than to say that many of the people here are shocking that they can ever hold jobs. As to your Left/Right thing, no, most of the intelligent reasonable discussion here comes from the Right. Most of the worst spin and trash talk comes from the Left. The difference is that when proven wrong, a good conservative will change his views and conceded your point, many on the Left here adamantly stridently anti-Trump NEVER do.

There is clearly an agenda to destroy Trump. The Left cannot deny it. It's true, the guy has a lot of stains on his past and character, he deserves a lot of the criticism for things he says, claims he makes, words he mixes up, etc., and there have been many times I've winced and wondered why he's said and done certain things, but for the most part, he's been a good president, far better than Obama, I remind myself this guy is not a practiced politician, and one can only wonder what he might have accomplished so far if he only had half his party and any of the democrats actually being at all fair and reasonable in supporting, behind him and going along with him.
