The Russian merely observe our divisive weaknesses and exploit them. Reflect them back at us to keep the fires of anger and hatred burning.

There are other reasons why they would be interested in setting up "liberal" pages.

They are very interested in having a database of liberals as well so if
1. a "conservative" candidate that they support is running, they can wipe them off of the registered voter rolls by means of hacking. It has been shown in the last Senate report and at other times that the Russian hackers had that capability.

2. a "liberal" candidate that has some positions that help Russia, for example getting out of Syria or ending the sanctions on Russia, could be helped somewhat if the opposing "conservative" was more anti-Russia.

3. they've actually had contact and trained a "liberal" that supports Russian causes. Trump was an obvious choice for them, he had been to Russia and likely had contacts with Russian intelligence services. A Democrat who could be in a similar position is Kucinich, if the scenario may seem implausible to some. Rohrabacher is a possible Republican example. There are also many left and right-wing Putininst politicians in the EU. Such a politician may or may not necessarily seem obvious in his or her stated political views...
