Anyone ever had a professor push a political idealogy?

That's easily fixable. If it's legal, then at least some regulations can be put in place. I honestly don't know much about it, but apparently brothels in Nevada are heavily regulated and have very little problem.

I'm not dating Hookers or Porn hoes, so who am I kidding. I give --> . <-- that much of a fuck, good sir!

Just in case my wife is reading this, I should probably go on the record here: I'm not dating hookers or porn hoes, either.

Anyways, I don't recall in College where anyone was promoting any Political positions. I may have been unaware at the time if it had occured, though, b/c I didn't really follow or care about politics. (almost like I am now!).

There's definitely a difference between porn and prostitution. They're both full of sluts and scumbags, but in Porn the Actors are all paid (not one actor paying the other as in: Prostitution), there's blood-testing, there's a product being produced and sold. In Prostitution, one skeezy un-tested person pays another skeezy un-tested person and the only thing being made is either a Baby or a Disease.

That's essentially the pro-MJ argument in a nutshell. Once an action is legal, you can outright regulate/tax it to death. Once it's illegal, there's not much you can do other than throw folks in jail.

Morally, I'm outright against prostitution. But the libertarian in me is willing to at least consider a Nevada-esque solution.

Yeah same here, I won't do it but I don't think it's my or gov'ts right to deny others who want to do it.

I think people with kids who smoke cigs are doing something immoral, but shouldn't be illegal.

Yeah I'm trying to care less, I cared a ton in college (prolly like a lot of ppl) and once I learned all the things gov't does and how much they spend and what they spend it on it just makes you want to punch a wall.

Learning about Washington is like researching economy brand hot dogs right before you're forced to eat one.

Fat Free stuff isn't necessarily better, but I doubt you want Diet advice in a political forum.

No you're right, fat is just traded out for sodium most of the time. I try to avoid it all I couldn't tell you the last time I had a hot dog.

Same with diet pop, I never drink that stuff.

To me the mind-fuck always was, that despite the fact that fresh fruits and veggies can taste good, most of the foods that are terrible for you taste FANTASTIC.

And since I'm a fitness buff and have to maintain my glamorous abs, this is like a Daily balance-beam game with me. I want to enjoy life and eat all of that unhealthy stuff, but I want to do what I CAN DO to live longer, and look and feel better. Moderation blah blah blah.

It's easier when I train and design diets for others.

No fitness buff here but I do eat a lot of vegetable, fruits, and nuts everyday. Meat consists mainly of fish ie tuna, salmon. I still eat a steak once a month though. Oh yeah, and one glass of red wine every night after work. Haven't had a soft drink in 10 years. Amazing how your body rewards you when you eat decent.

I read this all the time, and I never had a single professor talk up a particular candidate or party or idealogy.

I once had one professor in geology show evidence of global warming based on his field research, however he never said a word about whether or not it was man-made. So I guess that's the closest thing you could get into spinning whether or not he pushed a particular party.

What about you guys? I went to Ohio State just as an fyi, any of you ever experienced this?

Nope. They taught the subjects I enrolled in. I did have a prof who was into horse riding though and all it took was for someone to mention how pretty it was outside and what a great day it would be for a horse ride to get him to end class early. One of my favorite profs.

I did leave a church back in the early 90's because the Sunday School teacher started out teaching the lesson and it always turned into a conservative bashing of liberals. Now, I'm conservative, but that wasn't why I was at church. I don't go to t he government for my religion and I'm not going to church for politics.

Well, the ladies like it and I feel great.

Keep on that Red Wine thing, that's got many a benefit.

I eat like crap one day a week, and I love that day though.

My deathbed meal, shall I ever make it to Death-Row:

Dozen kukuburra (sp?) Wings from Outback Steakhouse, 2 Ballparks grilled crispy, A Burger from Troy Brew Pub (with Jack Daniels' sauce from Friday's), My gram's homemade mac and cheese with the breadcrumb/butter top, 2 of my Mom's meatballs, crispy and out of the sauce, Fries from Hot Dog Charlies fresh out of the oil, well salted, a bowl of my Gram's Pasta fagioli, 2 slices of my Uncle Dom's pizza, and probably more.......................

plus...Desert!

Bleh. Ohio State. :eusa_hand:

But no, I personally never experienced a HS teacher or professor push whatever their ideology may have been. Maybe I've been lucky, but I think an overwhelming majority of teachers act like the professionals they're supposed to be, regardless of how much people want to bash public education. And the idea of professors standing at the front of the class spewing Marxism is just a tarded meme concocted by paranoid fringers who probably haven't been in a college since the seventies, if even then.

You all realize that the experiences related in this thread largely run contrary to what the talking heads on the radio say, don't you? We must therefore be lying! Do you think we were brainwashed and just don't realize it?

This is a very interesting topic for me as I have a niece that graduated from UofOR in 08. Her degree is sociology/PreMed. While she was in school we could barely be in the same room together as she was constantly spewing socialist crap. I was always questioning her where she was getting this stuff. I was treated as if I were just STUPID and didn't understand things. It was extremely disturbing.
Now she tells me that All of her professors were either socialist or marxist. This was her normal. She has heard this stuff all through the years including HS. She has all the books if I wish to take a look. She told me that OR is the most liberal unniversity filled with socialist & marxist professors & that she has never known anything else.
She says there is a very real indoctrination going on in the unniversities that our children are attending. I believe her............

Her wake up was ObamaCare while in med school ~
Hummmm..............All that socialist stuff doesn't look so good after putting in 9 years of school and more debt than she will earn for years to come.

No, I don't think so.

I did have a friend in high school whose parents were both teachers, and they would harangue me with their socialist crap when I went over to his house. Nice thing to do to a 16 year-old.

I imagine this question might also be difficult to answer objectively, since a person's political bias might make a professor pushing that ideology seem more like they are just stating facts; conversely, it might make a professor stating facts seem to be pushing ideology if the facts happen to go against whatever your political leanings are.

To delve into the completely unrelated thread hijack of food, I like to say that the fact the food that tastes the best is the worst for you is evidence there either is no god, or he's a sadist
