Additionally, we have servers here on the Las Vegas Strip who earn six figures a year and around 80% of that income is tip income. Do you think it's fair that someone who makes $120K a year should pay tax on only 20% of their income while someone working an hourly or salaried job making $60K pay it on 100% of theirs?

The number of servers who make that kind of money is vanishingly small. The number of servers who would enjoy a significant increase in their quality of life with that tax break is huge.

Why do democrats hate the working class?

Most professional actors make less than 65,000 per year, yet following your logic they should be taxed at the same rate that the very few megastars make.

Not everybody waiting tables works on the Vegas Strip.

My boy worked at the Ritz-Carlton in Naples (Vanderbilt Beach) and he'd come home with $2,000 in tips once in a while. Not often, but once in a while. He's moved on from the Hospitality Industry to spend more time with his family. Got a good job now. Real good.

But not everybody works at the Ritz, either. Not everybody gets tossed Five C-Notes by Arnold Schwarzenagger. Not everybody serves Pappy Van Winkle at $250 a shot.

The vast majority of the people waiting tables, the overwheming majority, are single Mothers, Married women trying to help out with the Family Finances, School kids, etc.

They work Holidays including Christmas Day sometimes, weekends, nights and have to pretend to like people they despise. It's part of the game.

You're problem is very simple.... You are against anything OMB does. Even if it helps working class people.

Trump could personally discover the cure for Cancer and you'd find something wrong with it. You would likely bemoan all the Oncologists he put out of business and all the people at the ACS that have to find new jobs.

employers can FIX IT so that the entire income is called
TIP and themselves fail to report----depriving people of
SS and the liabilities that employers are SUPPOSED to

Earnings from employers are taxed for everyone.... including those people who receive tips. Customers who leave a tip are not the workers employer.

Socialist Security? Sure, that could get hit if you don't report all your income but I don't think too many people are so stupid as to give the goobermint $1,000 in order to get $100 back in SS when they're old.

Most States have a mandatory minimum Wage that Waiters and Waitress are paid. The Federal Minimum, including tips, is $7.25 an hour. Can't hide from that. Unless the employer is suicidal and chooses to forego Workers Comp, Unemployment Insurance, General Liability, etc.

Could there be abuse? Of course. There's always that possibility. Is the chance of abuse happening worth punishing hundreds of thousands of working people? Mostly Women??
