It appears to me that most people would rather fight their little war of left vs right than they would the real enemy.

Arab culture is such that blood ties are more important than ideals, and in a place like Iraq where half the people are married to their own immediate family members, the only political system that can actually work in some fashion is a dictatorship. These people are incapable of ruling themselves in a western style democracy.

When Bush invaded, part of the greater notion as represented by the Product of The New American Century and Neocons in general wasn't all that bad as far as an ideal goes -- to make them more like us -- but it simply couldn't work because it didn't take into account who they actually are.

Similarly, when Obama supported the Arab Spring with the pie in the shy notion that this could somehow lead to democratic reform, he was similarly misguided because once again, he didn't take into account who they actually are.

As far as I see it, they both failed. I'm not going to go full on Sun Tzu on their sorry asses, but damn -- couldn't either of them see this coming? You shake up a bottle of champagne, pop the cork and what else do you expect to happen, anyway?
