Why We Don't Have Universal Health Care.

Can't do it. We are capitalists. It would hurt the bottom line of for profit healthcare.

Instead of squandering hundreds of billions of dollars on Ukraine and trillions of dollars on wasted garbage, our useless politicians could have given us a cheap, socialized healthcare plan; alongside with the standard healthcare we have in America. (The rich don't want socialized healthcare and the average person can't afford the system we have...so we need 2 systems.) People that can't afford America's unaffordable healthcare could get their appendix out before it bursts.

If they need a heart transplant, then go work 3 jobs and save up for 6 years to pay for it. The socialized plan would be for basics to keep it viable. But the American healthcare system is so greedy they don't want to lose a penny and would never accept a 2nd option. Plus, our politicians are absolute nincompoops and could never run a socialized healthcare system anyway.

Do you think the turtle will get your socialized healthcare?

Are you kidding? Right now there are hospitals closing because of planned cuts to Medicaid. A closed hospital isn't very profitable. Next, we need only one system. Universal health care. Sure, with that you can't raise the price of some drug by 5000% as was done with Daraprim. Or by near 100,000% as was done with the drug Acthar. A drug that had been around for decades.

Next, here in the U.S., around 500,000 families go bankrupt each year due to health care costs. That just shouldn't be allowed! Another point is that have you ever seen the Michael Moore documentary "Sicko?" One of the things they speak of in it is how Canadians who are visiting the U.S. have to buy health care for the time they are in the U.S. Because Canada has universal health care. The U.S. doesn't. If they got sick or injured hare, it could ruin them financially. Lastly, I will show you a world map that shows health care in various countries. If they can do it, we should be able to also.

Countries With Universal Health Care.webp

You know, like all the other developed nations (among others) have. The reason is because of the Insurance industry and the money they can get politicians to take. I say we hang the insurance industry out to dry.
I will willingly die in a public place, actively refusing treatment before I take a single penny of socialized medical care.

Better DEAD than Red!!!!

Because it sucks when you really look into it.

Only possibly for the wealthy. But **** them! I will show you a map of countries around the world who have apparently "looked into it."

for one countries like sweden have a fraction of our population
have you seen how high their tax burden is to "pay" for this? some 40%

it's not FREE, nothing is

Imagine you are healthy and never use it whereas your neighbor is a heavy drinker and smoker
and constantly in the clinic, you are paying extra for their life choices.

Well, unfortunately for you, I looked into it. The tax rate people pay there can reach up to 52.3%. It depends on how much you earn. But if you are really rich, it can go higher than that. Interestingly, the corporate tax rate there is 20.6%. I think it should be a hell of a lot higher than that.

Because I don't want to rely on shitty politicians for my health care. And I don't want my health care to be at risk every election.

Why not. Every other country with universal health care do. Also, if it was guaranteed by law, as in an amendment to the Constitution, it wouldn't be at risk.

Bullshit.
Liar.

Every person in the USA has access to health care. It's universal.

Go to any hospital that receives federal funds and they must treat you regardless of your ability to pay. It's been that way since Reagan.

Good luck, the Democrats and Republicans gets lots of money from insurance companies. It would be political suicide.

Not any more! After everything Trump has pulled, I think that for most voters in the 2026 mid term elections will decide that it's time that the wealthy got their asses kicked. How the **** dare anybody to cut Medicaid and food stamps!

The only one who can provide real care of health is the individual. Other than that we have 'sick care' and that has become a huge money maker for big pharma.

Very true, even illegal-aliens who can't pay which trickles 'up' to the U.S. taxpayer eventually.

This is unbelievable. Nobody here knows that there is a major CONSTITUTIONAL obstacle to socialized medicine? Congress has no Article I power to get into the healthcare business.

It could possibly be gotten around like SS and Medicare were, but it would involve a whole new PAYROLL TAX, for which Americans have no appetite.

Plus, having seen how the USPS, the VA and AMTRAK operate, "we" are hesitant to turn over our health to the Federal ******* Government.

The fact is that most Americans are quite satisfied with their healthcare and the cost of it. It is easy to say, "Millions of Americans have healthcare that sucks!" But one percent of the U.S. population is "millions." Most of us have excellent healthcare. Like me. I have Medicare and a Supplement and pay almost nothing out of pocket for my army of doctors.

Congress has the power to create any amendment to the Constitution it wants. Such as The Bill Of Rights. Also, getting Medicare yourself, you don't have a say in the matter. It is those without medical coverage that this thread is all about. And with most of the other countries having it, there is no good reason for us to not have it too. Another point is that when it comes to amending the Constitution as we did with the Bill of Rights, FDR spoke of implementing a Second Bill Of Rights. Too bad he died before he had a chance to do so. Here is what he had to say.

FDR enslaved millions of Americans. Actually was the biggest slave driver in US history. He got half a million Americans killed. He was by far the worst president in US history.

He was one evil ************.

You want to bet on that? Democrats just as much as Republicans get their money from insurance companies, that is why Obama and Democrats didn’t do away with insurance companies in 2008.

Medicare and food stamps are going to affect 8% of the 19-64 year olds, they are ones that are not disabled, that don’t have kids under the age of 14 or are not caregivers. That 8% can keep their keep their Medicaid and food stamps by either working, volunteering or going to further their education 80 hours a month. No one is just going to lose either.
