I've never believed in opening fully without first having all the facts, but, I also don't believe a "one size fits all" model makes sense anywhere or any nation. Each has their own set of challenges.

In Canada, our hotspots are Montreal and Toronto, in the U.S it's NY City, NJ and surrounding areas. Why should the restrictions and methods in these locations be the same as a rural town or vice versa?

I don't think the position of opening up can be labelled a particular political leaning. I supported limited restrictions, but I also believe a full shutdown was wrought with serious dangers. To me, liberty is supposed to be supported by ALL, that is the essence of capitalism and democracy. Most importantly, there is no way for us to currently even understand fully a few key issues:

1) Are all of the Wuhan Virus statistics accurate? Or is the cause of death being misused, inaccurate, or, abused for various reasons? This issue in itself is not settled and deserves lengthy discussion.

2) If we can count how many deaths were due to the Wuhan Virus, can we also determine how many lives were lost due to the shutdown? Suicides, addictions to poisons that didn't exist before, lack of health care as people didn't want to (or couldn't) go outside, loss of quality of life, or life itself, due to depression, anxiety, stress, mental wellness issues? I'd like to see the running total of this as well, however it can be estimated, and I'm certain it can once this is past us.

3) Can we determine the long term economic costs, increased debt and harm to future generations in a prolonged and broad shutdown?

Remember, if you bring in the "conservative view" you must include the "progressive view" if you want to have a fair and accurate assessment of apparent Wuhan Virus treatment perspective. So, what if you believed crazy Fauci and just shutdown the planet for 2 years, would this be a better solution than staged re-openings?
