Zone1 Why Is There Such Little Faith In Jesus Today?

So, you AREN'T putting your faith in Jesus, but in the Old Testament, then.

I figure that since Jesus established a New Testament, He would know what was really important and what was not. He talks about SO many things, that it strikes me as a bit odd to focus on that which he never mentioned, instead.

Jesus said not one dot or tittle of the Law would pass away. He said, I haven't come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it. (Matt 5:17-18)

He did not talk about every "dot and tittle" of the OT law in the NT. For one thing, His ministry was only three years; for another, it was in ancient times when people could not whip out their phones and record word for word.

Broadly, the OT laws can be categorizes as Civil, Ceremonial, and Moral. Since Israel/Jews in the NT did not live in tabernacle times, the civil laws sundowned. Since the temple would be destroyed, the ceremonial laws were about to do so.

However, the moral laws in the OT never sundown.

You can think of this similar to raising children. When your kids are preschoolers, you might set a bedtime of 7:30. That's like a 'civil' law that your child with outgrow when their needs change.

Hopefully you also teach your child not to hit and to say kind words. Those are moral laws, and are good guides for a lifetime.

Most people by the time they are adults already know right from wrong without having to be told. Those living a sinful life know it is, but lack the understanding of it's impact....on Him, themselves and those around them. When God chooses to intervene and open their understanding is when people are then transformed and choose His ways, even if only for a time.

IDK about you but when someone tries to tell me what to do or that I'm doing it wrong......I don't want to here it. Kinda like with an addict, you can tell them they need to quit all you want, but only when they've had enough will they seek treatment.

I agree and again I can't stand when people use fear mongering to get people turn to Christ because they need to know that they're going to go to Hell if they don't trust Him as their Savior, but they also need to know why and that He died for them because He loves them so much and didn't want that to happen to them and still doesn't so He made a way.
