Why Do You Trump Lovers Hate NATO So Much?

NATO is outdated and unreliable.....why Bush allowed Turkey in is still unexplained.....We can not rely on NATO if they happen to disagree with us on an issue because that nation is doing business with our adversary.....Europe places more importance on profit than they did after WW11....
Putin loves people like you

our board Russianwingers have a stroke over mexicans carrying back packs

but want to bail on protecting our country from other countries that could possibly start another world war.

amazing little creatures .................................

lotts of these millenials are just scared . Biff is probably one of the SCARED ,

Liberals, in my experience, are fearful folks who need the bodyguard of big government because they are vulnerable, battered emotional hypochondriacs....they need to insure themselves against every societal misadventure that could occur. They call that 'empathy,' but it's actually neurosis. They have some sort of metaphorical bullet lodged near their heart, just waiting for a slight move which will end it all!
Thus, the overwhelming feeling of incipient failure, and apprehension. And, recognizing their own weakness, they lash out at those willing to depend on themselves.
Yea...well we can file your experience..in the round file in the corner

File it???

You prove it!!!!!

NATO was created as a counter to stop Russia from blitzing Europe the way Hitler did later Russia created the Warsaw Pact as a counter to NATO it disvoled in 1991. Given the Warsaw Pact is gone and it seems extremely unlikely Putin will do a blitzkreig across Europe there seems to be no harm in rethinking our role in NATO.

Trump claims his opposition to NATO is based on money; but that is not how NATO works. It is not a protection scheme where the allies pay the United States. It is a collective defense organization in which members agree that an attack on one is an attack on all. NATO is the most successful peace-keeping franchise in world history; let's not forget that the norm for Europe before then was wars, wars, and more wars....It was only 20 yrs that separated WW1 from WW2; since NATO -- no more wars breaking out all across Europe; how is that a failure?

I see no inherent issue with NATO, but I do agree with the president that Europe has to pony up their fair share of the cost seeing as how they are the main beneficiaries of the pact. We've been defending Europe for nearly a century now. The only reason they can afford their generous social welfare states is because we have military bases all over their continent allowing them to greatly scale back their defense spending. We're basically paying for our military and a good chunk of theirs.

And they are doing exactly that...as promised

our Congress holds the purse when it comes to paying NATO, not Trump.

NATO members spend money on their own defense. The funds they send to NATO directly account for less than 1% of overall defense spending by members of the alliance.

Canada needs to get off their wallet, they're dead last in the pony up dept.

Was Bush President in 1951 and 1952 when Turkey joined NATO?

Trump Is Training His Base to Hate NATO and Like Putin

So Trump lovers got their panties all moist this week when they heard news of Trump seriously considering pulling out of NATO -- their general consensus was, "Fuck yea!! let's save that money and give it away in corporate tax cuts or directly to defense contractors!! #MAGA"

Is NATO really that much of a problem in the world? Or is pulling out of NATO more of a way to just feel like you are "owning the libs" on something? It seems that much of whatever Trump lovers support is mainly based on the fact they think it makes "libs" angry -- which is pathetic in itself.

As Trump himself said (from the article) "Sometimes our worst enemies are our so-called friends or allies, right?” At a subsequent rally in Montana last week, the president declared, “Our allies in many cases were worse than our enemies.” He then went on to say about his boo-thang Putin: "Putin is KGB.” (Putin did in fact work in the KGB.) “You know what,” he said, “Putin’s fine. He’s fine. We are all fine, we’re all people.”

Well, it ties into the belief that we are carrying water for the rest of the world, and that's not an irrational belief.

However, Trump's motives may be different, and withdrawing from Syria while Isis remains a threat is .... inexplicable.

The EU does NOT need America to defend itself from Russia AT ALL. Russia is a shadow of it's former might (conventionally). And is ZERO threat to conventionally invade Europe.

He IS however a threat to invade all of his neighbor states and steal THEIR wealth. WIth each takeover he becomes stronger militarily and economically with the goal of becoming equal to or greater than the old Soviet Union.

An aggressive Communist Soviet Russia was bad enough...a mafia style Russian dictatorship could be even worse

8 NATO countries to hit defense spending target

I neither love Trump or NATO. I don’t see the point of continuing an alliance of defense against a nation that ceased to exist nearly 30 years ago.

Especially when we expand it to include radical nations like Turkey. Does anyone really want to go to war if Turkey is attacker’s by someone?

But the point of having Nato isn't that they had our back in Afghan .... or even that France and Italy caused us to foray foolishly in Libya.

Rather, Germany is taking a power on it's own self-defense. They've concluded that relying on Russia's self interest in selling them gas obviates any necessity for defense, and their populace has no interest in being soldiers, so the balkens, Poland, the Czechs, Hungary, Modlavia etc are all on their own. Germany is historically the center of European might. Europe is left with the economies of France/belguim, the UK, and Italy. And the smaller states. All told, their gnp and military spending out strip Russia. But an alliance is more unweildly than a single country with a lesser military, but unified society and command. It falls to the US to be "the biggest dog." But given the sizes, the US should be able to be the biggest dog while stationing a smaller force so long as Russia knows that an attack on Europe would be an attack on the continental US.

What Trump has never attempted to explain to Americans who are pissed the EU is by large not carrying its load is why preventing any aggression by Russia against the lesser EU states is a vital interest to the US. And the reason is that we exist because of free trade, and without that we would cease to be the economy we are.
