Puerto Rico is already a U.S. territory, and anyone who is a resident of Puerto Rico is unquestionably a U.S. citizen entitled to a passport and all that already. Making P.R. a state will (hopefully) allow the law to catch up to some of the Latino organized crime cárteles.

Puerto Rico is a territory, with a bunch of cities and towns which are in fact very corrupt and haphazardly organized under the "mob rule" of the usual Democrat / RINO city hall. Make it a state, but the same problems that we are having in other states will also have to be solved or dealt with there.

Not all Latinos are Democrats. Some are very conservative churchgoing people. Mostly Catholic, since as far as Western Christendom goes the Protestant Reformation was in fact mostly a white northern European "thing." Plenty of rich whites live in Puerto Rico, too.

Puerto RIcans are too smart to depend on D.C. for their sovereignty. They actually have a more responsive and LESS corrupt govt than ours is now. Seriously doubting the House would CONVINCE them to go along.. Maybe the Dems would just forcibly ANNEX them without asking in a referendum. That's the way they roll when they WANT something bad..

And D.C. could never SUSTAIN ITSELF on sales taxes and other gimmicks. And the Federal Govt OWNS all the juicy real estate and doesn't pay property taxes. So it would always be a pauper state getting MOST of it's income from Congress anyways..
