Zone1 why do some Protestants think that only they are Christians and the Catholics are not?

it seems that in the US the term Christian often means Protestant only

and excludes Catholics

why is that so?
As a Roman Catholic, I find it concerning when some Protestants question our Christian identity, given our foundational role in the history of Christianity and our longstanding scriptural tradition.

Yet the High Priest had to offer sacrifices over and over again for the sin of the people. The sacrifice never did away with sin, unlike the sacrifice of God in the flesh, Yeshua.
Oh please!

The subject of ritual slaughter was never about killing farm animals in a temple. There is no such thing as the sacrifice of God in the flesh. What the hell does that even mean? God who is incorporeal became a man, a human sacrifice to pay the penalty for your sins? Do you not even have an inkling how deranged that belief is?

You clearly aren't rational. People like you were the inspiration for many biblical metaphors like devils, creepy things, unclean creatures, wild beasts of the field, swine THAT DO NOT RUMINATE, talking serpents and donkeys which translates into suckers con artists and jackassess in modern terms. You embody all of them.

You do have my condolences.

As a non-Catholic Christian, I find it concerning when some Catholics question our Christian identity, given our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

I have seen this from both camps, and it's usually related to tribalism. "My tribe is better than your tribe. We have it all figured out and you don't. We're right and you're wrong. In fact, we're so right and you're so wrong we don't even consider you our equals".

Have you stoned any young people for disrespecting their parents lately? Have you stoned anyone caught in adultery?
I never threw a stone at anyone but I have been stoned, many times. Some people just can't stand free spirits.

Okay, so now you deny that the Children of Israel offered animal sacrifices. Is there no end to your delusions? They're getting ready to do it again, don't you know.
There is no such thing as the sacrifice of God in the flesh.
Absolutely there is. Your repeated denials carry no weight.

Of course you believe it's deranged. You can't allow yourself to accept it and think you're sinless with no need of a savior. You are WAYYY out there in left field.
You clearly aren't rational. People like you were the inspiration for many biblical metaphors like devils, creepy things, unclean creatures, wild beasts of the field, swine THAT DO NOT RUMINATE,
Yup, there's one part of the Law you take literally. Let me guess, you also support the part about not eating bats. Just not anything that's inconvenient for you.

You're not making your case. Does God command you to attempt such weak insults regarding His Word? Such total lack of respect for what He has to say?

So you don't follow the Law, despite your claims to the contrary. Got it.

Okay, so now you deny that the Children of Israel offered animal sacrifices.
Thats not what I said. Is that really the best you can do? I said that the Laws of ritual slaughter were never about killing farm animals in a temple.

Pay attention.

Thats not what I said. Is that really the best you can do? I said the Laws of ritual slaughter were never about killing farm animals in a temple. Thats what Jesus revealed.
Yet the Law specified that they had to do it and you claim to follow the Law. Now you claim to follow Jesus, making Him greater than the Law?

I get it already! Thinking is not your strong suit. Maybe you should try and peddle your bullshit on a street corner.

Your word salad sorcery has absolutely no effect on me.

You're deflecting to avoid answering the question. Is Jesus greater than the Law or not?

I hate to break the news to you but all of the creatures described in kosher law represent human archetypes. In the Bible everything from angels to devils, swine that do not ruminate, wolves, teeming vermin who GO DOWN ON ALL FOURS, dogs, bottom feeders, and creepy things that creep, etc, all reveal how God views humanity.

You just made all of that up. God was giving the Law that dictated behavior. He would not cloak it in misdirection or cloud it with meanings left hidden until you came along. This is the Law, this is what you must do and not do, end of sentence. There are greater meanings in it that can be explored, but it's pretty clear that the Israelites were to follow the Law as written. Even in Jesus' day they wanted to stone a woman caught in adultery (ignoring the man also caught). Now, is Jesus greater than the Law or not?

Yeah and? Jesus taught them it was wrong for they all were guilty of the same exact sin in the eyes of God.

Now, is Jesus greater than the Law or not?

Its not about being greater then the law. Once a person masters the law, the light, by understanding the words and subjects, and does it, they are no longer subject to judgement for sin. They have passed from death to eternal life. Jesus fulfilled the law, complied with its demands, and receive the promised reward of the righteous.

Yeah and? Jesus taught them it was wrong for they all were guilty of the same exact sin in the eyes of God.
He also reminded them that He Himself wrote the Law with His own hand.
Its not about being above the law. Once a person masters the law, the light, they are no longer subject to judgement.
Nope, didn't say above the Law. I asked, is Jesus GREATER than the Law or not?

He also reminded them that He Himself wrote the Law with His own hand.
It was written by Moses, "the finger of God" being a metaphor for the Divine inspiration of God. Are you really that childish in your thinking? "In his own hand" ? Damn. You must have been around 8 years old when you died.

As Jesus said to all of you earthlings, "For as long as heaven and earth endure the Law of God will remain in effect and in full force." as can be witnessed by anyone with a nose that can smell your abject state of corruption.

Then you are in violation of the Law, it's just that simple.

Uh oh! Oh my! Woe is me!

What do you say I should do? Defy the first command, worship an innocent Jewish man, and celebrate his death as "a perfect human sacrifice" so that I can sin with impunity for life and not die "the death" for defying the Law?

Hmmm. Let me think about it.

So I can put all of my guilt on Jesus who you claim to love (and believe is a three in one God) and I can say and do stupid things for the rest of my life without any consequence? Sounds very tempting, but I'll take a hard pass.

I'm sure the reality of cause and effect will get in the way of that magnificent, however reprehensible, fantasy.

Here's where the wheels fall off your tricycle. I have NEVER, and I repeat NEVER said that you can live however you want to after being transformed by the Holy Spirit. That is YOUR perverted belief, and it bears no resemblance to reality. The reality is your life will show differences that you simply cannot help because you have been transformed. I won't hold my breath expecting you to ever acknowledge this because you have shown yourself to be irredeemably dogmatic about all of your beliefs.

Will you stop with the BS already.

You believe that a trinity impregnated a virgin to become an innocent Jewish man who performed supernatural demonstrations of divine power over reality, miracles of the lie that scripture is to be taken literally, only to be despised ridiculed rejected and crucified as a "perfect human sacrifice" to himself, derp, so believers who eat bread at church can sin with impunity for life and not pay the penalty, death, a curse, for their own stupid sins.

You are an idolator who brazenly perjures himself in the name of God and desecrates the WORDS of Jesus. Daily.

YOU HAVE YOUR REWARD ALREADY!

Thats why you don't have an inkling how reprehensible it is to believe that an innocent Jewish man paid the penalty for your sins so you don't have to. WTF! As if a ritual will save you from your own guilt. You fell for a maudlin Roman bullshit story, a perverse sardonic joke, and are suffering the consequences. Daily.

Being oblivious isn't salvation.

Now you know.

Actually, it was the Holy Spirit. See, you're not reading Scripture again.
to become an innocent Jewish man
God in the flesh. That's what the Word says.
who performed supernatural demonstrations of divine power over reality,
He sure did, and the people of the day followed Him because of it.
miracles of the lie that scripture is to be taken literally,
Of course it is. You do not want to, so you twist yourself into pretzels trying to avoid it.
only to be despised ridiculed and rejected and crucified as a "perfect human sacrifice" to himself so that believers who eat bread at church can sin with impunity for life and not pay the penalty,
And there you go again, despite my being very clear about that. This is why you can't be taken seriously; you will not pay any attention to anything beyond what you yourself say.
death, a curse, for their own stupid sins.
All sin is stupid, even yours.
You are an idolator who perjures himself in the name of God and desecrates the WORDS of Jesus. Daily.
I respect His words, unlike yourself.
YOU HAVE YOUR REWARD ALREADY!

No ritual, only relationship. Again, you create the strawman, attack it and think you're responding to what I say.

I believe because Scripture says it's so. You don't believe even though it says so.
