For starters, the peer review process is not perfect. In fact, with a plethora of journals available the peer review process is quite dodgy in many instances.

There was one pro-HCQ study which was supposedly peer reviewed but shows that it was published the day after it was received. That's not how the peer review process is supposed to go.

I do understand the difference between good and poor data. The differences, simplistically, are whether they're eliminating potential confounding information. A prospective trial is basically always going to be superior to retrospective trials.
