Because you can actually appreciate taking care of yourself and not waiting or expecting someone else to do it for you... and you expect the same out of others
Unfortunately, the REP party has had many representatives go away from the conservative base, and act just as bad as the libs.... but the key is to purge those out with new Republican representative blood that adhere to the Conservative concepts... not to jump ship and vote in the leftists out of spite, considering they will do far worse
I don't think liberals want to give hand outs either. What I think liberals want is to bring equality to opportunity. What I mean is that a wealthy couple has better opportunities to educate their children. Those children attend better schools and eventually are educated and have the financial resources to attend elite colleges which are courted by companies that want to hire the best for their positions. Those positions are then acquired by the children of the wealthy reducing the number of available positions for children who have had to work their way up from the bottom. There is a lot of nepotisim among the wealthy elite as well. And instead of starting companies where the workers are really given everything they can to make their lives better, workers are paid as little as possible to hire and keep them, are given maybe a week of vacation a year, have to pay exhorbitant health insurance rates, and are made to spend nearly 1/3 of their lives working for wealthy people just so that, hopefully, by the time they reach the age of 65, they can retire with enough money to get by. Out of all of the people who live in this system, how many actually obtain wealth? 1%? How many people despite all of their hard work, luck, and opportunities still just don't make it? They just don't quite get lucky enough or never eventually have that opportunity to make the big bucks?
And how many people who don't get good educations, grow up in poor, depressed communities, who don't have much hope of wealth, who remain ignorant of the opportunities that might be possible, who, despite their best intentions, just barely make enough money to support their families? Do Republicans just wish to ignore them? That's how I grew up. Luckily, I got out of that situation but I will never be rich. However, I would like to help more people out of that position. I think Republicans have never been there, so they don't sympathize with people who are impoverished and disnfranchised; and somehow believe that those people are poor because they're lazy.
Why not uplift everyone instead of just ignoring them and only caring for those who have opportunity and yourself? Some people despite everything will remain disenfranchised because they lack ambition, but the majority of human beings want better lives for themselves and their families. Why not give a helping hand? Not lifelong welfare that they can barely subside on, but enough to help get them finish high school or get a GED, then attend community college, then go on to a four year degree, then work a job that is meaningful AND also pays enough that they can move into a better community, where there is hope for a better future for their children, and their children's children. That is called compassion. Yes, tax payers' money will be wasted on some people, but not everyone, and not most of them. We waste lots of money now on defense spending.
Liberals want to take care of the environment and want more regulations to ensure that polluting companies don't ruin the air and water that we and our children will breathe. Liberals want compassionate government that will lend a helping hand to those less fortunate because charity organizations are not enough. Liberals want companies that abuse their workers to be fair and allow people to work and also have the opportunities to enrich their lives. Liberals want people of all races, creeds, religions, ethnicities, and sexual orientations to have the same opportunities. Liberals want a fair justice system and don't think there should be so many minorities in prison, nor so many people in prison. Not all of them deserve it and prison, as it is now, does very little to help society and only ruins lives and trains people to be criminals instead giving back to society. Liberals want better lives for themselves and their children, for everyone. What's so terrible about that?
I think Republicans are scared. I think they fear minorities, homosexuals, radical ideas, youth, and anything they aren't familiar with or are raised among. I think they want to be wealthy no matter what, and believe everyone should be Christian and if they aren't, then they at least have to act Christian. The Republican party has a recent history have leaving out the poor and helping the wealthy who don't need help. The Republican party has a recent history of racism. The Republican party has a recent history of hate. The Republican party has a recent history of environmental degradation. It seems to me the Republican party is about greed. Am I wrong? If so, show me how. Seriously. This is what I have experienced. This is what I have perceived. It doesn't mean I'm right, but it's what I think.
