I must say that I am in awe of this website. I am (and have been) on 5 other political boards for the past 8 years and never have I put so many people on ignore for being a total waste of time. I love to debate and having a debate is always about talking to a person with opposite views to mine. I welcome that with open arms as debating is gaining knowledge and that is what I seek

Blind-by-choice people can NEVER see (or be convinced) of anything they don't WANT to see. What this means is the end to research. It's definitely a pause without making it a pause.

Because, where the institutions get grants from philanthropists....it hardly covers the costs. Especially when the research is now going to be completely done inside the USA. (No more Wuhan lab incidents)

Medical research is done on people.
For scientists to experiment on people there is a tremendous amount of regulatory, data security, and safety protocols that must be followed.
This is not done without people. Because even AI cannot invent new ideas or understand novel ideas.
Then there's the complicated math involved. And all departments working in a coordinated fashion.

It's expensive with little payoff most of the time. If any payoff at all. Oversight and clinical reviews are constant.

And some studies require decades and multiple institutions around the world.

And if we want duplicated results by independent parties....that's going to increase the cost due to duplication as well as slow things up a bit.

Theres a LOT wrong with NIH....no argument from me on this one. But this requires a scalpel and not the chainsaw of blanket cuts.
