Who is getting hurt and what we are losing with what Trump and Musk are doing!

The standard congressional approach to dealing with waste abuse and corruption has been for a congresscritter or two to publicly declare that wasteful spending is doubleplus ungood and they are going to tackle it. With great fanfare, they form a committee composed of a few accountant types and multiple congresscritters to provide oversight, basically making sure they don't touch anything the critters deem important because reasons. The committee goes dark for a few months to a few years, doing things only they know they are doing, then quietly announces a few token items that should be pared from the budget before disbanding and disappearing into the night, never to do anything again. Naturally, the congresscritters wax ecstatic that they can now claim to be budget hawks, even though, thanks to their continuous oversight, the committee accomplished nothing of note and nothing ever actually gets eliminated.

That won't play anymore. Congress has had way more than enough time to handle things delicately and bring the budget into line and has consistently failed. It's time for the sledgehammer. The pinata is pretty, swinging in the breeze, but needs to be opened to get at the treats inside and the democrats would have us use fingernail clippers to open it.
Yup, and the committee is another waste of $$$ and their solution usually just adds to the problem.

So please remove all references to God and Jesus going forward.. You could replace with the the Dollar...

In the Dollar we trust....

Beside that, it is conservatives that use to push USAID most... They used it grease the wheels of foreign relations...

Really would like EU to take the vacuum that US leaves and not China... If US are determined to diminish and not be a superpower, then I think it best EU was in charge instead of China...

Really dislike the Trump pro China policies...
Someone on this board had the perfect response to your position. When you see a homeless person on the street, do you run down to the bank, take out a loan and go further in debt so that you can give it to the unfortunate person on the street? Of course you don't and the US shouldn't either. Take your sanctimonious garbage down the road.

Every action in life has benefits and consequences and the bottom line is that the goal is to always have more benefits than consequences, so the nation and its people can advance and not recede (two steps forward and 1 back rather than the opposite). This OP is going to discuss who is getting hurt and if the consequences of Trump's actions will end up being a plus or a minus for our country.

What Trump has been doing it trying to keep his campaign promises and as such, he is having a 53% approval rating for doing that. Keeping campaign promises is never a bad thing because it is what he was elected to do. Having said that, the way he does that and what the end result ends up being is what is going to make this nation better or worse.

Let me start with this one piece of common sense. Doing a lot of harm to others is never a plus.

In addition, his shutdown of USAID not only removes jobs from thousands of Americans but removes aid from the poor, sick, and needy in the world.

The plus to all of this is a reduction in spending. This hopefully means less debt but the way that Trump is doing it also means the following:

1) less Americans working
2) less taxes being collected
3) less people receiving the needed help to stay alive
4) more Americans needing help
5) more American companies losing the income they need to stay in business
6) more chaos and less order
7) allies becoming enemies
8) hate and payback feelings increased, bringing new problems

Yes, some of the promises made fulfill a need that the nation has but the way that Trump and Musk are going about fulfilling those promises is by using a sledgehammer approach and that is never a plus. Destroying things that have been in effect for decades and offer good and needed things but are full of "fat", is not the way to go. You trim the fat and put them on a diet but you don't blow them away and start from scratch.

That is a recipe for disaster

My biggest accusation against Trump has always been incompetency. He has tried many things in life but with the exceptions of the things his father taught him from a young age (Real Estate and scamming people), Trump has been a disaster. He does not learn from his mistakes because he is a narcissist and always blames others for his own mistakes.

Musk has been a highly successful businessman all his life but it has always been in things he had an interest in and spent time learning about. Nonetheless, his ego has grown to such a degree that he is no longer spending the time to learn new things (such as what governing needs and requires, and what being in a business he has never been in, like social media needs and requires).

He bought Twitter in October of last year and made huge changes (the same he is trying to do now), and now 4 months later, Twitter (as X) has lost 79% in value, has lost most of its income (advertisers have left) and has lost viewership as the changes he made to the media itself, are not liked by the viewers.

Both of these people are making huge changes and are not thinking about the consequences of what they are doing and what possibly was a good thing is now looking like a disaster-in-the-making.

Amen
The "poor, sick and needy of the world" need to be helped by their own governments, NOT the American taxpayer. American tax money should stay in the USA. It should not be used to prop up other governments that mostly hate and resent us anyway.

This OP is not about MONEY. It is about doing harm to others, destruction and not fixing, and about being who we have been for 248 years or becoming someone totally new that no longer represent anything else than money, hate, unfriendliness and isolation.

It seems that you do not understand what this OP is about.

It is about accomplishing more benefits than consequences. It is about the overall picture and not just about foreign aid and the U.S. companies that provide that.
Up until 1940, the USA didn't give away a dime to foreign countries. This started during WWII and really grew legs after the war when the US had the only functioning economy on the planet, and we were generous in helping both our allies and our defeated enemies. So you are incorrect and lack any sense of history.

Condolences for the end of democracy in the United States.

Are you actually cheering for the Supreme Court to anoint your beloved fuhrer king???????

We all knew you guys were basically facists. But to have someone declare it out loud……..
What democracy? Has any voter approved the line items in the USAID budget? No. its set by bureaucrats who are uncontrolled and unelected and not responsible to anyone except other bureaucrats. For the first time in a hundred years someone is trying the rein them in and you can see and hear the results, complaints in the media about the world ending and lawsuits to maintain the status quo.

That had nothing to do with this and oh yeah… gas eas more expensive 15 years ago. Speculators drove up the price to over $4/ gal until Obama put a stop to it
Obama didn't put a stop to it, economic factors did. People stopped buying expensive gas and cut back on their driving. Lack of demand forced the prices to fall as it always does.

Wokeness is getting hurt and that's what the voters voted for.

In order to maintain some semblance of credibility, you really should address the reality that USAID is being merged into the State Department, where its worthy programs will continue functioning. What will not continue are things like teaching clowns to tie balloon animals. When you plug that reality into the equation, all of a sudden the needle moves a great deal into positive territory.
Evolution's Mooching Losers

Colonization is the only way to produce international development. These sub-sapiens humanoid species have never been capable of doing anything with their immense natural resources.

They let that all go to waste while they rot away, blaming their well-deserved plight on us. Self-determination has to be earned, not given away by a powerful transnationalist race-traitor clique.

How ironic for you to take that position, since thats what everyone thinks of democrats. No one cares what democrats like and dont like. Democrats are the party of incompetency and destruction. There isnt a thing that democrats have done the past 10 years that didnt turn to shit. You idiots ruin everything you touch and the country is sick to death of you, so how about you just your dumb mouth? :dunno:
Demolitioncrats Rip What They Sew

Once again, all about money?

Unemployment, chaos, starvation, lack of support, uncaring, etc. are not important negatives?
.

We don't care ... If the people ripping us off, or those allowing it to continue, lose their jobs.
We don't care ... Especially about the chaos people create as their world of fraud, waste and abuse falls down around them.
We don't care ... If we root out the corruption and fraud, and cut off support to those who are ripping us off.
We don't need to care ... And will be more than happy to feed the starving crooks three meals a day in prison.

It is about the money ... Hard working tax paying American's money being wasted, stolen or abused ...
And specifically by the Establishment you are trying to support.

Your pleas for compassion are only judged in comparison to what you really want ...
The chickens have come home to roost ... And you cannot hide behind that shit anymore ...

less government workers means more revenue right off the bat. I bet you think their work goes to revenue, well darling it takes away from revenue with every worker. It's a net loss
