It is illegal in Modesto, CA. In CA, the county sheriff in your county makes the determination AND decides if you can get a CC permit as well.

It has been longer than ten years. I left there nearly twelve years ago and it had been illegal in Stanislaus county for three or four years already. I have always held the NRA and the CRPA culpable for not challenging the constitutionality of those fascist CA laws.

We Open Carried in our Militia activities until 2015 pretty freely ( BLM Lands mostly but other areas during 2-3 Day FTX events ) the Open carry of Handguns laws predated the full on ban of Long guns too in Ca .

I wasn't aware that CA expanded the open carry prohibition statewide. There were still a couple of real sheriffs in the Sac-San Joaquin delta that were still freely issuing CC permits when I left. SMH, glad I got out of that marxist shit hole. Such a shame that such a beautiful state has been trashed to that extent.

Shasta County has almost 20 thousand CCWs currently issued perhaps a lot more as I have not kept up with issuances and renewals .

Not so. I lived in CA for over 40 years and I open carried everywhere until somewhere around Y2K. Soon after that they started restricting open carry of long guns.

In Washington State the law said you could open carry but they could arrest you if you did so to intimidate others. Guess who decided if it was intimidation?

I carry mine tucked in my pants behind my back when I get out of my truck. Nobody has said anything at a store because they can't see it. I haven't pulled it out but I think a scruffy person would know if they saw me bringing my arm behind my back they know to walk away
