When the Collapse Comes...

Also, it's worthy of mentioning that--hell, just by reading the posts here--when you start trying to organize fellow gun nuts into a cohesive unit, the first thing cletus is going to ask is "Who made you boss?"

This is where the cartoonish fantasies come into play. That somehow, you and your MP10 will gain followers and you'll be some sort of modern day Moses leading people to the promised land and anyone who is "unfortunate" enough to not be in the group better fear for their lives.

Yeah....

"Who made you boss"

Let me tell you something you LOLiberal, something one of your cherished Communist leaders said, Mao Zedong:

Political Power Grows from the Barrel of a Gun.

My plan makes friends with people that matter --- people with guns. If you don't have a gun you're worthless when a major SHTF occurs.

Not only are you worthless, but you're actually MORE dangerous than a gun-owner in the long-run, you're also far more likely to be a LOLiberal. The last we thing we need is "social justice" in the middle of a ******* crisis.

You're asking about when the "Collapse comes." Not us. I rarely ever speak about it except with other local gun owners, and rarely on the internet, you ASKED US, now you're getting your answer.

You want to know something else? It won't just be people like me forming groups with LIKE MINDED people. Latinos will have their armed patrols, and blacks will also have their own armed groups, as will whites. Muslims will be the quickest to militarize and form their own fiefdoms, Great Murderers like Hitler even remarked upon their ability to quickly organize in a military fashion and is on record ENVYING that Germany wasn't a Muslim nation instead of a Christian nation.

But you know what's funny, all of these groups that form their own communities, will be mostly DEVOID of LOLiberals, whether they are black, white, latino or asian or Muslims. Why? Because LOLiberals (as a whole) are mostly disarmed physically, intellectually and will be totally caught unprepared when SHTF, most of them will die in shock and denial as the electricity turns off for three years. They'll dream of LOLiberaLand as they hallucinate from dehydration or infected water.

My apology but I still don't see where I said that you shouldn't prepare for unforeseen disasters.

As for the quotation above...
Perhaps understand the context????

The notion that if you're not prepping, you're leading a decadent lifestyle without a care in the world and are totally reliant on the government and expect them to supply your every need is false. People used to have pensions; the 401k has become the new pension. Eighty percent of full time workers have access to them (http://www.americanbenefitscouncil.org/documents2013/401k_stats.pdf). But almost all are market based unless you put it into treasuries and securities. For most Americans, this is it as far as employer retirement plans go. The markets will go south if there is a serious government collapse which will most likely be keyed by treasury instruments going south so you're screwed either way.

They are not FDIC insured. I know of no 401K that lets you keep money in the bank.

So the lady who has the 10 year old girl loses her life savings and is hungry. The same source says that 1/2 of all workers eligible for 401k's take advantage of them. Individual investors have no direct involvement in the collapse but somehow, since she wasn't planting crops in her backyard or preparing for a tornado/wildfire/hurricane or other natural disaster or man made catastrophe...apparently it's "tough shit" and better luck next life.

Is this the best we can offer our neighbor?

That is pretty much my point.

Again, I apologize.

I understand now, and there is no apology necessary.

But I couldn't let my three year old and two month old sons starve so I could feed someone else. Without knowing the full extent of the imagined crisis I can't say for sure how I'd act, but I bet it would be something like I normally do: cautiously.

In other words, whether you help someone else would depend on the situation.

indeed.

First you want to forcibly evict people from their property, then you want Jury Trials. Before you start killing people without jury trials.

You are a ******* narcissistic idiot. What a ******* combo.

You've got some issues with leadership it seems. I don't know if it's pure ignorance or just a very warped view you have of people that don't agree with you, but you might want to take some time and actually get to know people a little more.

No sonny,

I just grew up in the South and know the genus red-neck better than most. The idea that someone would be able to organize them into a soccer team would be easier than the idea that you'd take an armed red-neck and convince him that he's not the leader. This is why red-necks love their guns; it equalizes them in a way that economics does not, in a way that society does not, and in a way that academia certainly has not. It's the same thing religion does; it places you on a pedestal when all other tenants of modern society do not. If you were to look at the Bible belt and super impose the areas that had the most weaponry, the two would mirror one another with the exception of the west where there is a much more legitimate need for weaponry.

As the recognized leader of the Logistics section of our healthcare system, I certainly don't have an issue with leadership...that is humorous in the extreme. If you only knew.

What I was saying is that when you try to form some sort of make-shift survivalist clan and say, "Charlie, I'll stay here in the house; take you and your kid and go patrol the neighborhood and report back to me" Charlie is going to wonder why you get to stay in the house and he and junior are put in harm's way.

Saw this yesterday:

When the collapse comes, God Willing, I will be ready. And when yhou knock on my door for help , the answer is 'Go **** yourself'

I'm just curious; you preppers out there who insist the world is coming to an end and are arming yourself to wart off the hordes of people coming for you Cocoa Puffs...are you going to tell your neighbor "Go **** yourself" if they knock on your door?

FYI, I do not consider myself a "prepper" but I think everybody with a lick of sense should have a years worth of supplies just in case. Three months should be enough but then you know others aren't going to be prepared and you're going to have to share, hence the 1 year's worth. I don't have that yet, but I'm working on it. Some dried food, some canned, etc. My hope is to be able to rotate the food and just keep one year's supply on hand. Soap is easy but keeping enough toilet paper is hard. I live near Seattle. There is talk of the cascadia earth quake, not "if" but "when". It happened several times in the past and created a tidal wave that hit Japan, that's a pretty serious earthquake. If if happens in our life time, given our government, it'll be months before anybody comes out to help us. The roads will be gone. Heck we may not even be here, they expect a tidal wave to go up the Columbia and take out Hanford, which is already leaking. I can't believe how poisonous our government has let our world become.

I don't think most of America knows how touchy our electric grid is the power company experts say that if terrorist found out what 8 or 9 transformers to attack it would black out the entire country for almost 2 years because the power transformers we use are made in only 2 countries and take 18 months to make people cant live a week without power imagine going 2 years it would be complete chaos.

You are worried about the wrong terrorists.
Long before they will blow up transformers these "terrorists" kick your door in and install "smart" power meters which will ding you with power bills of over $ 1000/month.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfki5FPDU9I&feature=youtu.be"]Energy Firm Caught Breaking Down Door to Install Smart Meter! - YouTube[/ame]

Aside from an assault rifle, lots of ammo and all the rest of the stuff preppers are hamstering you`ll need quite a large stock pile of cash till the time comes when "the world collapses"
I keep saying that it won`t happen as clean cut as preppers think it might.
It`ll be a long & and drawn out process and if you are one of those assault rifle & survival bunker mentality types you better be prepared to take on the police as well.

Are you prepared to pay for power bills like that till the prepper scenario "world collapse" might eventually happen ?
It`ll get interesting to see what happens when the power company and the police kick down the door of one of these tough talking Chuck Norris "prepper" types, who promise to use their assault rifle if somebody just knocks on their door, never mind getting it kicking in as it`s happening already.

I don't really believe in rapture but I believe your assessment of tribulation is is probably correct. And I'm not Christian. I'm too mean.

I noticed that, but your wit redeems your meanness . . . sort of. :D

It gets me in trouble more often than not, but I'm a big fan of Christians even though I don't believe I can be one, which is unfortunate.

And since I'm a glass half full kind of guy, the good news is while I'm in hell I'll get to tell Ted Kennedy what I think of his murdering $*%&@.

None of us can be one without God's transforming power. That's why you come as you are. Hell ain't no place to be. It's forever.

Or perhaps, the need for leadership in such a situation is not as great as you think. The friends I have discussed this with are all planning to take care of themselves. Yes, we have skills that the group needs. But we do not need to be told to share them. Unlike what you have claimed, it is not every-man-for-himself.

There is no need for us to have one person in charge. We will all be busy trying to make sure we survive. Some of that work will be group efforts and some will be individual work.

Leadership? No.
Direction? Yes.

Not one and the same.

I've been trained in this for approximately ten years by FEMA and the National Fire Academy.TEEX, and even took courses offered by the USCG in search and rescue and the special types of trauma survivors undergo...

Every scenario taught in any of these classes had an incident commander directing the response.

Your mileage may vary. Good luck getting Cletus to submit to your authority.

whats really funny is to watch someone ***** up a storm about preppers, who will be prepared in the event of a disaster, and then continue to ***** they won't be giving her some of their stuff when it all comes down. typical liberal. i'm not prepared to make it on my own so you need to take care of me.

Cletus is an old friend. He listens to those he trusts. I will be fine.

And yes, perhaps there is a need for leadership in an emergency. In my experience, the real leaders step up when they are needed. There is no reason to think my friends and neighbors would not listen, simply because you term them "rednecks". Perhaps what they do not listen to is condescending types?

But the bulk of the time we have will not be on military manuevers or in managing outside rescue and distribution of assistance (as FEMA and the like would have to do). It is in simply securing our homes and planning for the future as a small community.

It is funny that you kept asking about how we would treat one another, and now you seem to want to TELL us how we will treat one another.

and the word PREPPER or SURVIVALIST is used as an insult I think . I use both but prefer different words that describe what PREPARED people do .

It's true that "PREPPER" is used today by the liberal media as a pejorative. It's the way they operate. Belittle anything you disagree with. Unfortunately, some of these folks make it far too easy for this media scum by feeding directly into their little game.

Best bet? They should say nothing and go about their business.

I think the best situation would be a remote, well-situated, spacious, well-stocked, defensible stronghold inhabited by capable, compatible, well-armed people and a kennel filled with large, vicious attack dogs. Prepping such a situation would require adequate wealth and persistent, systematic planning.

If you live out in the suburbs of Long Island, it's best to know all the nearby Gun Owners in your immediate neighborhood. Put together a well patrolled perimeter. The way we plan to deal with non-gun owners is as follows:

In a "minor" SHTF scenario, like a natural disaster, help as many as you can, the Government will eventually restore law and order and private charities from around the nation will come to your aide.

In a major SHTF scenario, like a terrorist attack on the power grid, or a Dollar Crash, there will be no Government for many months, possibly even years, and millions will starve. Forcibly evict all non gun owners, because if you don't they'll conspire to murder you in your sleep for your stores.

Use the materials from their homes to repair your homes and build basic walls and defensive structures. Use their property to plant crops.

Also, make sure you the gun owners agree on Trial by Jury, this way there is some degree of Law and Popular Sovereignty even amongst yourselves. Kill any gun owner who disagrees with Jury Trials --- this person craves to be a local Tyrant.

First you want to forcibly evict people from their property, then you want Jury Trials. Before you start killing people without jury trials.

You are a ******* narcissistic idiot. What a ******* combo.

It ceases to be their property because you've taken it by force, and their is no application of law or justice. Eventually, the unarmed hoard will bring their sticks and stones in large numbers to overwhelm the gun owners. Competition for scarce resources makes an animal out of everyone.

Survival of the fittest. Take out your potential enemy before he can get you, just like the Japs at Pearl.

I disagree. I think EVERYONE should be prepared and I'm not going to let the political correct media try to shut me up. I would rather have my friends and neighbors prepared than unprepared. We know that disaster is going to happen and our government isn't going to be there. Look at Katrina, look at Sandy.

yeah Shelia , I'm just saying that some cushy living college students and libs like to make fun of Preppers and Survivalists as rednecks , southerers and Cletus's . I'm just saying that I use the words prepper and survivalist but I also use other words that describe common sense preparation .

15th post
and seems to me that lots of people are preparing as this single thread shows and only a few argue against preparation . Then , just look at all the prepper and survival sites on the internet . Preppers seem to be a large movement !!

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

-Robert A. Heinlein

always liked that Heinlein saying !!

I can remember when our government advertized for people to be prepared for a disaster. What happened? Why is it now they make fun of people who are prepared? Do they want us all to die?
