I want to do away with these government bureacracies so I have more money, and like every other american if i have more money i'm more likely to give more to charity.
The difference between people like me and RDean is he puts all his faith in the efficiency of government bureacracies, i have way more faith in the efficiency of charities.
We tried a 'charity only' society...it FAILED. Maybe if seniors and the poor are made to beg, it will make you more likely to give more to charity.
Check the way the standard of living has trended in the last 50 years and you'll figure out what was failing.
Your grandpa could go without a high school education and do just fine financially as an 18 year old, a 22 year old with a college degree is most likely crippled financially and strugging just to get decent work.
That's what happens when you take more and more money out of the economy and put it into bureacracies. We used to be able to afford to give free healthcare at charity hospitals, government/big drug companies/big insurancd didn't like that, hence why they're extinct now.
