When did Republicans turn their backs on Christianity?

I want to do away with these government bureacracies so I have more money, and like every other american if i have more money i'm more likely to give more to charity.

The difference between people like me and RDean is he puts all his faith in the efficiency of government bureacracies, i have way more faith in the efficiency of charities.

We tried a 'charity only' society...it FAILED. Maybe if seniors and the poor are made to beg, it will make you more likely to give more to charity.

Check the way the standard of living has trended in the last 50 years and you'll figure out what was failing.

Your grandpa could go without a high school education and do just fine financially as an 18 year old, a 22 year old with a college degree is most likely crippled financially and strugging just to get decent work.

That's what happens when you take more and more money out of the economy and put it into bureacracies. We used to be able to afford to give free healthcare at charity hospitals, government/big drug companies/big insurancd didn't like that, hence why they're extinct now.

The myth that democrats love to hate is that all republicans are devout Christians. I wouldn't assume that all democrats are all depraved sexual deviates if it wasn't for Clinton.

It's Republicans who insist they are devout Christians. They point to their religion as the reason for hating the gays. They use their religion as a weapon insisting Obama isn't "one of them".

I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.
Mohandas Gandhi

And this new thing of "every man for himself" and "let him die" is just too much. How can these people be proud of these awful views. These aren't "values". Considering what this country stands for, they are crimes.

Your misrepresentation of Christianity fails this whole thread. Besides your sweeping misquided generalizations of Republicans as a whole.

And as you've pointed out yourself, you are not a Christian. Therefore, you have no idea who Jesus Christ is yet; let alone be able to point your hypocritical finger at others. We all need to take the plank out of our eyes at one time or another.

Before I knew the Lord, I was also swayed by the propoganda of the Left like you are. I was swayed by the misguided propaganda unknowingly also and I thought, "oh the Republicans are for the rich, the Dems are for the poor, so I must be a Dem!". I voted for Clinton even, lol.

Thank the Lord through His Grace I now know Him. Thank the Lord so much He is teaching me more and more and not to listen to the lies of men. And we are all capable.

The most wisest of Christian men I know are Republicans. They are NOT rich at ALL. One even went without an oven for a long time! One is a janitor, he just gets by. Another can't even work because of his disability, and he has no health care. He does NOT want government health care.

But then again, how can I blame you really? I was persuaded like you are also because I wasn't doing my own research. I wasn't understanding the whole scheme of things. Sure, there are oppresive people in both political parties. But in my experience, most aren't. We are just ignorant sometimes and also assuming of other people.

You're ignorant of what the truth is because you've been blinded by "world leftist propaganda".
I'm not calling you "stupid", because your not. We all can be ignorant of some things. In this case, you've been hoodwinked.

As for you personally quoting Gandhi, that is ridiculous! If you agree with Gandhi that you like our "Christ", but not us Christians, you're missing what Jesus Christ said totally!!! You're looking down your nose at others as if you are holier-than-thou and are able to tell them how "good" YOU are, whilst people (what you call Republicans) are these dirty rotten scoundrels.

For that....Here's a great parable for you that Jesus Christ said.

Luke 18
10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.

11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.

12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’
13 And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
You are being like the Pharisee above. You are so "good" right, and everyone else (these rotten Republicans) are extortioners, unjust, etc??

Also a tip which I doubt you'll consider, but I'll try. Instead of listening to Gandhi: LOOK to what Jesus Christ first, not to "men" and what they say first. As men and women, we all fail, we mess up, we are only learning and growing. Jesus Christ came to help us grow in love and save us from our own messes. He helps us grow in Grace, because His Grace tops all.

I disagree with the title of this post. The vile nature of the new (last forty years) religious conservative is exactly what Christianity as practiced by the republican party is about.

May as well just copy and paste my reply to rdean to you also. You have no idea what Christianity is because you know not the One who gave us life - yet. "Pharisee alert."

What has happened over the last 40 years is a conservative era. And what has manifested is a takeover of government 'of the people' liberals created from the New Deal through the Great Society into a government payed for and owned by corporations like big pharma, big insurance cartels and big polluters. Conservatives have made a conscious and concerted effort to dismantle, disable or defund every program that created the most robust middle class in history. It is no coincidence that the busting of unions has brought back the biggest wealth disparity since the Gilded Age.

What part of those passages say that government must be set up to force you to give part of your possessions to the poor?

Stuff like this should be voluntary, not forced upon you by the government.

"Give unto Caesar..." comes to mind.

Is that right, you ignorant baboon?

Your grandpa could go without a high school education and do just fine financially as an 18 year old,

Really? Did he have a car? A television? What defines "alright," in your alleged mind.

a 22 year old with a college degree is most likely crippled financially and strugging just to get decent work.

Is that right? So your claim is that 50 years ago, in 1961, a person working a minimum wage job had more purchasing power per hour worked than a person at minimum today?

Is that your claim?

That's what happens when you take more and more money out of the economy and put it into bureacracies.

More likely it's what happens when mindless little trolls like you spew populist bullshit based on a fantasy that never existed.

We used to be able to afford to give free healthcare at charity hospitals, government/big drug companies/big insurancd didn't like that, hence why they're extinct now.

Well that's why people lived so much longer 50 years ago, sparky.

You have it all figured out, just from memorizing the KOS talking points...

Conservatism isn't growing government, that's what's happened in the last 40 years, that's liberalism. Conservativism isn't allowing so much corporate control and influence in our government, that's facism.

After losing in New York City, Dem Loyalists, Obama Fluffers, Union leaders and avowed Communist gather in the bunker grimly awaiting the Nov 12 election like Hitler awaited the Soviet Third Shock Army arrival in Berlin.

Here fellas, this should help the time pass

Obama's poll ratings just went up two points.

Republicans remains steady at a 13% favorable rating.

According to you, this means Obama is in terrible danger.

No political party is closer to Hitler than Confederate Conservatives. Even you know that.

Almost as strongly as Barack Obama and Jerry Brown are...

and that means I'm using KOS talking points, very cute son. Now please remind me how Reagan was such a great conservative.

So again, you feral baboon, show us how the standard of living was so much better 50 years ago? Let's test your claim, monkey boi.

You truly are a madman, but an entertaining one.

You are an ignorant fool, but good for making a point.

Did you make it into high school?
