What's your plans for Columbus Day?

Perhaps you're not looking at the reality of the situation.

I'm going to ask why.

Why do you think killing people isn't evil? Because it's always been done? Then again killing humans has always been considered evil, except by evil people like Hitler and Pol Pot.

Like all modern day libs, you have the flaw of looking at yesterday's world through the lens of modern day standards.

Uh.......Lose a couple hundred dollars at the Ho Chunk Casino then buy some cheap booze, gas, and cigarettes at the tribal store?

That's all I got.

Grab me a denim tuxedo while you're there and I'll pay for the shipping.

Why is it a flaw?

The reality is I live in the modern day. We celebrate things which we wish to express, and we attack those things we don't want to be.

I don't want the world to be like Columbus made them. I don't want the US going into Iraq to invade for cheaper oil. I don't want the US going into Afghanistan to play politics there and screw with people's lives.

This is very relevant. A statue of Columbus is saying "genocide is good".

Also Columbus was massively criticized during his day.

"Columbus was well aware of his contemporary critics"

Columbus is merely a figurehead, a representation of when the Europeans first came here, placing in motion a huge change and enlightenment for this hemisphere.
No. He is not. He was an idiot. Amerigo Vespucci would have been a better choice and his family were friends with the Medici family.

I'm just saying................pick a smarter Italian. We have them. European culture was awesome in many, many ways. Hell, we could celebrate the Vikings.

I'll be taking a road trip!
Happy Columbus Day!

Columbus Day 2021
Monday, October 11

A Proclamation on Columbus Day, 2021

OCTOBER 08, 2021•PRESIDENTIAL ACTIONS
More than 500 years ago, after securing the support of Queen Isabella I and King Ferdinand II, Christopher Columbus launched the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria from the coast of Spain in 1492. While he intended to end his quest in Asia, his 10-week journey instead landed him on the shores of the Bahamas, making Columbus the first of many Italian explorers to arrive in what would later become known as the Americas.
Just another Monday

I celebrate the eventual western culture that took over and gave the world the most modern innovations and quality of life the world has ever seen. The positives far outweigh the negatives.

If you want to dwell on the negative side of the European take over, then by all means, wallow in your sorrow.
Also, you could put your money where your mouth is and give your property to a descendant of the indigenous ones, and move back to wherever your descendants came from.

It`s hearsay for those who don`t read books. Get yourself a library card.
I have read enough books to know where we are headed. In fact we are part of the way there. And what is disturbing is that you see this as something conservative republican or something worse when it is using sense to keep the civilization going. The people buying into transforming are insane. I guarantee you no matter how many immigrants come here to up the population, when transforming is finished there will be a lot less people within our former borders. Blue cities are to be avoided. Blue infections in school districts in any areas are to be avoided. To all Non Progs follow this to start.

The problem is you're just ignoring.

You're saying looking at Columbus and talking about what was bad is not compatible with talking about the achievements of the modern USA.

I don't get that.

Did some paperwork at home before driving out to Tallahassee this evening. I'll be out here for the next two days on business at Florida State...

Colombus stamped out tribalism, tribal warring and tribal slavery. I will celebrate America.
