Zone1 What would Jesus do about the GOP plan?

Abortion is a human rights issue, not a religious issue.
Sure, thats the party line. Pure bullshit. A zygote or unborn embryo doesn't have rights above that of the living pregnant woman. The human rights issue is the woman's right to decide what is done to her body. Forcing a woman to give birth based on her address, the state she lives in, whether her pregnancy was a case of rape, incest, even if a non viable fetus, or a bad decision, is a gross violation of her individual constitutional rights.

And only an idiot, a religious nutjob, would think that their subjective opinions supersede her individual rights.

By the same logic you morons used to decide abortion state by state slavery should be decided state by state. Maybe one state could be a dictatorship, another pure anarchy, another could be run by trumpish pedophiles.

Lies, slavery, and injustice for all!

Woo hoo!

Shit for brains.

NOT Religion: Following the teachings of Jesus to Implement policies that address the things he was concerned about, poverty, elderly, children, the needy, the less fortunate.
Where you can't seem to understand the issue: Jesus did not come to tell us to give our money to build a big, wasteful bureaucracy--a government that will "assure" us they will take care of all those bothersome people they say no one wants to give time to in their personal lives. You are advocating a big government to take care of the needy. Jesus advocated for individuals to take care of the needy. I am against giving more money to the government where so much money is already wasted. I am in favor of volunteers working among the needy in their own community, spending their own time, and their own money when needed--money that won't be wasted.

You are not a speaker for Jesus. You are a speaker for the government--and you are using Jesus for your big government purpose. Compare this to Jesus, who had no need to use anyone for his purpose. Your purpose is so weak, it needs Jesus to lend it strength. Jesus' purpose is so strong it has no need of you or government. In Jesus' way, both the giver and the one in need benefit. You favor throwing the giver under the bus to grow government.

And what do you suggest?

******* up peoples minds when they are children only to feed them soup when they can't function as adults?

What a gal!

The government was established to provide for the common defense and general welfare of its citizens. This is stated as a primary purpose in founding documents like the preamble to the U.S. Constitution.

Protecting citizens:
This involves defending against external threats (national defense) and ensuring safety and order within society (law enforcement).

Providing essential public services: Governments establish and maintain services like healthcare, education, infrastructure (roads, transportation), and emergency services to meet the needs and improve the quality of life for their citizens.

Promoting general welfare: This can involve regulating the economy to ensure stability and growth, addressing social issues, and safeguarding the rights and freedoms of individuals and groups.

Ensuring justice: Governments are responsible for creating and upholding a legal system that ensures fair trials, resolves disputes, and maintains law and order.

Small federal government with strong individuals in strong communities taking care of each other. A government that encourages the populace to lean on it (and grow weaker doing so) is not a good government as it only feeds the egos of the power-hungry. When a government wants people dependent, beware. The government should have a healthy respect, a healthy fear of a strong population.

Sure that makes sense if there was still a small population. Those day are gone, over a long time ago. Now there are 350 million people in the US, the government necessarily needs to be big enough to fulfill its defined purpose.

The alternative is what you fear. What is here now. A government that only feeds the egos of the power hungry.

Sure that makes perfect sense if there was still a small population. Those day are gone, over a long time ago. Now there are 350 million people in the US, the government necessarily needs to be big enough to fulfill its clearly defined purpose.
By 'small federal government' I mean a government who takes charge of matters such as security, trade, transportation--purely national matters. With 350 million people across the country, there are plenty of individuals who can take on the personal care of other individuals who are in need of this. If we are to be a strong country, it is necessary for us to be a strong people. We do that by caring for community needs and providing for the poor and needy among us.

To be a strong people and to care for the poor and needy among us you have to stop screwing up peoples minds with superstitious archaic lore. Not defund public education or deregulate industries that poison the population.

I worked in nursing with the sick and dying for over 14 years. I have helped many hundreds of people walk their last mile. Cops, criminals, retired generals, CIA, FBI, junkies, the poor, the wealthy, low lifes, war heroes and scoundrels. Its been my experience that untrained individuals doing their best to care for others, even their own family members, without knowing what they are doing only causes more pain and unspeakable suffering for both.

You are projecting yourself into the teachings. You really think Jesus cares if a community organizes itself to provide healthcare to its citizens? Of course not. He taught that we should care for them.. not the manner. You use your point of view to shirk any responsibility of a community to the community.

Education. When children grow up watching their elders care for the needy, they learn through example and helping out from the ground up. I am watching young adults really struggling with caring for their babies. I came from a large family, and caring for babies was a large part of life and my childhood. Today's smaller families can't pass that experience on to their children.

(Shakes head.) You think I am shirking. Then nothing more needs to be said between the two of us.

Actually it’s based on empirical scientific evidence and self evident truth.

So scientific evidence and self evident truth support forcing women to give birth to this? Because it has rights?

No wonder you 'believe" that spiritual life can be handed out and eaten like a cheap snack food. You are a dick.

Scientific empirical evidence proves that at conception a new genetically distinct human being has come into existence.

When I make you make posts like that I am winning because it shows I control you. You have transferred your power to me.

Lets leave the abortion thing off. No one will ever agree on that issue. Its way too murky which is why it should be up to the individual but I get the arguments the other way, just dont agree. This issue cant be bridged.

Sure, if you say so.

It has always been since the beginning that a distinct human being comes into existence with its first breath.

I agree education is foundational. So why is public education being assaulted if not because religion not to mention any confidence scheme or political bull is more easily advanced and successful among the uneducated?
