I was thinking about this recently: as the title asks, what percentage of posters here are mentally, emotionally, and spiritually well? To extrapolate: balanced, competent, productive, engaged, and at least reasonably happy?

For me, I thought about 30% of posters overall fit the last description.

Of course--and data bears this out--the number of liberals here skew those results. Meaning, more conservative posters seem reasonably mentally well to me and much fewer liberal posters. To the point that if you can engage with a liberal poster of sound mind it's a rare treat.

Try not to name names because I would love to keep this in General Discussion. Thoughts?

Oh that is absolutely true. Therapists can often make people crazy and make no mistake. I'm not talking though about fake dx, but real mental illness that makes people unproductive, miserable, etc.

FWIW think the best cure for many mental illnesses are connection, time outside, exercise, faith, good nutrition, good hobbies.

Well. Married 31+ years, very happily so. Two very well adjusted, professional, great adult kids, and a son in law. A nice home, a successful career from which I just retired. Lots of hobbies now. God has been very good to me and I am blessed.

I would probably argue you aren't mentally well, given some of the stuff you post, especially when your side doesn't do well.

I have found a few "Liberals" here who will actually sustain a discussion for at least a few exchanges. Most will not.

It's really easy for me. Some of those on the right engage in the sport of insult and put downs and seem incapable of making a rational argument or provide evidence for their point of view. But the large majority can make a rational argument for their point of view.

A few on the right will unfairly or unethically denigrate others, even those on the right, if somebody disagrees with them, but most are capable of having a good give and take on differing points of view and don't feel the need to attack the person disagreeing with them.

Only a small handful of those on the left can participate in a give and take of differing points of view, or making a coherent rational argument or supporting their own point of view. The very large majority are totally absorbed by their TDS and/or resentment, prejudice, opposition, hate for anybody on the right. Many will sometimes viciously personally attack anyone who disagrees with them.

I think it is reasonable to wonder how mentally balanced that majority on the left and those few on the right might be when they seem incapable of supporting their opinions/beliefs but can only express anger and hatred and attack people. They certainly don't come across as happy people.
