I've been under this one. Many years ago, and it's eerie. The ice is almost constantly cracking and heaving.... When it is silent, it is profoundly quiet....and that's even worse!

Absolute darkness is worse as in a photo darkroom. Took a nap in one waiting around for my cousin way back, and even after a couple hours it was still perfectly dark. Hard to simply stand with no visual cues to correct orientation. But it was a remarkable experience.
