55? In some things 55 is considered to be a senior age. I know, I know 62 is the BIG one, but 55 and over is a grouping well used and well known.

If somebody came here when they were under 55, or if somebody is now under 55 and reads posts and/or posts here - what have you learned, if anything -- about people, about yourself?

That I almost voluntary agreed to risk my life for my country that happily accepted the persecution of me for the last 30+ years.

G-d guided my decision to not return to pursue military service. Without my knowledge at the time, saving me from perhaps an unjust sacrifice not commensurate of the principles I had falsely believed were being upheld.

In short, if your nation upholds the unspoken social contract between you and your citizens, in America that is your Constitution, in Canada the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, you should be willing to risk your life in return.

If they violate this contract and harm you irreparably, you owe them nothing but transparency internally and externally.

Russians and even Ukrainians are losing their lives today. Did their government care about their rights before the war? Ditto for Iranians, terrorists groups who are risking their lives for what?

A government supports your G-d given rights or one does not owe them their soul.
