Zone1 What did Jesus look like? Does it matter?

Akiane Kramarik is an artist, who has had dreams of heaven, Jesus. She began painting as a child, and was very good. Seeing Jesus in her dreams, she prayed that he send her a model that looked like him--and the next day this carpenter showed up at her door.

Believe in me or burn in hell but I love you

The traditional portrait of Jesus is with the long blondish hair looking like a refugee from Woodstock. Where did it come from? Was it a marketing gimmick , in the age before photography, rather than an accurate profile of Almighty God's face?

The reality is that Jesus H. Christ was Jewish, and could have easily looked like Moses Horwitz aka Moe Howard of Hollywood fame who portrayed both a carpenter as well as a fisherman in two of his flicks.

Would Christianity have been successful if Moe's portrait would have been used instead?

Why does it matter? Muslims eliminated this argument regarding Mohammed because you are not ever supposed to depict his image. Maybe they had a good idea.

He had a middle initial H?

That seems kind of disrespectful; something that people yell when they're cussing and angry.

Out of curiosity: Do you go to Hindu sites and post in Hindu threads they worship idols? Or is it only Christians you harass?

I'm a Christian but you know what? Many times "Christians" just ask for it.

Jesus is literally an idol
The Jesus narrative explained for many first-century Jews (and second-century) the destruction of the temple and of Jewish culture.

And in a much more subtle way, the expansion of a movement beyond the visions of these Jewish converts.

It was dumbed down Judaism and they added hell and a devil as threats to compel obedience.

Thats why Jews cant believe in Jesus. When give god a name face and personality he is reduced to an idol.
I understand your insistence that God cannot appear as a man. A burning bush, on the other hand, is totally acceptable. Any other rules you have for God?

Jesus and the apostles didn't add hell and the devil; they already existed. Later Christians added them as metaphysical or spiritual attachments after hell and the devil had already been defeated.
