Ask a question, get silly answers. This idea is totally contrary to our modern values of respect for the individual. In a sense all people who marry hope to have healthy, smart children, that they fail is evident on USMB. Ok only joking. Natural selection enters this debate as well, but it is quicksand for the moral. This is one of those topics that no one wants to touch because it smacks of fascism and racism.

You want to see "positive" eugenics at work, take a look at the royal families at the turn of last century. The Hapsburgs, the royal family of Russia. Rife with deformity and hemophilia, as well as insanity. Likewise many Indian tribes have become inbred as Indians have become protective of their bloodline (thanks to blood quota requirements for tribal membership). Recessive gene disorders are becoming more and more common.

It works with horses and guppies. Not such a raging success with humans.
