Marxism and Soviet Communism that followed packaged up their ideological product as a utopia for the poor, a form of government where the poor workers banded together to take down the evil middle and upper classes. They called this system a dictatorship of the proletariat, or a dictatorship by the poor working class. In reality, before this so-called poor workers paradise could be achieved, a small ultra-powerful group of politicians would hold all the power until the poor workers were ready to take over.

The extreme irony of our (American) defeat of Soviet Communism thirty years ago is the undeniable reality that America is run in the exact same way as Marx's utopia and the USSR. In America we are taught to believe that the people (we the people) hold all the political power through our votes which allows us to choose our elected representatives when in reality a small group of ultra-powerful politicians make up all the rules and run the show with iron fists.

This is the greatest trick the devil ever pulled (I'm using a quote from the movie The Usual Suspects). The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he did not exist. In America the devil is in the details and we've been giving the devil his due for centuries.
