What is bad about socialism?

Oh please. All governments, including America's involve wealth redistribution. That isn't "Marxism". "Marxism" doesn't just mean whatever you want it to.

Since the term "socialism" gets thrown around a lot by people who don't know the meaning of it, here's a definition:

Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy.

Now we can discuss what is bad about it.
Any social construct to govern any society will work well, as long as it's not used, abused, and corrupted.
But we all know that will never happen.

Democracy
Imperialism
Socialism
Communism
Republic
Dictator

Thier base/core values work for what they are, for the people involved. As long as that is what the people as a whole, want for themselves.

It's when the bigotry, greed, and corruption enter into it, that it all goes to hell.....and only works for those that have been given the power over the society.

As long as the society tolerates it, no matter how much they *****, whine, and complain about it.......it will stand as is and get worse.......corruption and all.

When the people get to the point they are tired of the corruption and being abused......then it changes. The people have to have the will and the stamina to stand up for what they want. And if it isn't being given to them by those they placed into power for governing them, then the people need to step up and deal with it head on.

If nobody actually DOES anything to stop it and change it, then nothing will ever change.

One can see how a feeding frenzy became America's version of a society.

Oh give me a break.

All states are funded through taxation, and the US Constitution has a provision for the general welfare of the population. "Welfare state" is just another word which means whatever you want it to. It's just a "dirty word".
Someone has to generate the CAPITAL that the socialists want to redistribute.
As for a welfare state, we have one now that has grown exponentially since the democrats were co-opted by Marxists in the 1960’s.

I can't even believe you're trying to have this conversation, but thanks for the laugh. :laughing0301:

What's bad about it is those who receive without working for what they get have little incentive to work. Those who work without receiving what those who don't work are getting have little incentive to work. Result is less work done and less in general for everybody.

Socialism operates basically on the theory that Peter won't mind supporting Paul. And it can count on enthusiastic support from Paul. But the problem is that sooner or later Peter will run out of money.

Just because there are some socialist policies adopted by some countries does not make those countries socialist. Most European countries are free market capitalist with a few socialist programs. Without the ability to acquire, keep and use property, to increase one's fortune, to change one's stars so to speak, no economy will thrive for long.

How many are for privately owned Army, Navy, Air Force, etc., etc..?

Suddenly collective ownership takes on a whole new light, I bet.

So Socialism is centrally controlled by a government bureaucracy.

The tRumplings think that it means dictatorship.

They don't realize that's what they are supporting now.

That’s what socialism is. How are we in one now? If we were your goal of socialism would have been met and you should be worshipping Chairman Trump.

Recent dictatorships evolved from socialist/Marxist experiments. Communism has tyrannical rulers even today, such as China where the State has all the rights. Guess who runs the State? A dictator.

Implementing socialism necessarily requires an extremely violent oppressive totalitarian and authoritarian government that enslaves the people. Like North Korea.
