Why Socialism will never take over America

The states of United States are not independent. And their federation ended when they entered the union of the newly formed independent republican state, the United States of America. The new republican government declared this with its new constitution.
The United States was formed by the states through the Constitution.
The States have the absolute power to amend the constitution, and thus, the absolute power to dissolve the United States.

I think socialism probably will take over in the US. If you control how people earn living, you control them pretty much completely. Governments like control.

That's not socialism - that's the socializing of costs.
It has aspects of socialism by providing universal access to various services via taxation. The individual's use of those services is not conditional upon that individual being able to directly pay for them when they are required.

Socialism is an economic systems where the state owns - and thus, controls - the means of producing and distributing wealth - it doesn't in any way necessarily have anything to do with providing services to anyone - especially services like police and fire, which served to protect the rights of the people.

You confuse socialism with socialized costs.
