Give me a specific.

I'll give you an example. I was terrified that we would be in WWIII with Iran, dropping nukes on them, for no reason, within a year of bush's reelection.

That was a specific articulated fear.

Don't just say 'socialism' -

What specifically horrible thing do you think is going to happen??

I am afraid of having another corrupt Republican or Democrat is office corrupting the people, causing war and restricting people's rights, and I am afraid how the american people can not see how the two corporate candidates are essentually the same thing.

I'm afraid that the American people will become so used to living in a peaceful, safe state that they will forget that there are bad people out there who will hurt them if given the chance, and it is not warmongering to keep those people at bay, and to prevent those people from overpowering others.

Socialist: which candidate is viable and does not pose this threat?

Allie: Are you saying you are afraid of attacks on home soil in the next four years?

I'm afraid of 'spreading the wealth' means upon those making less than $200k. I'm also fearful of what he intends to do regarding coal, nuclear technologies. Then there are the problems with elections in general. ACORN, no parameter donations, early voting, etc.

I support Nader personally, but I don't mind Brian Moore but he is a little exteme, cause although I am a socialist I'm not a communist and I don't think that every buisness should be nationalized, I think we should simply install a more european system, but for some reason americans are extremly afraid of socialism and I think they are afriad of it cause they get it confused with communism

If Obama wins I am afraid our economy will be shattered and we will drop into a Depression. His tax plan and his new spending plans all point to JUST that. Further he intends to FORCE price increases across the board on energy and other infrastructure costs in order to force us to change our "behavior". He is a disaster waiting to happen.

Afraid and fear are not the words I would use in terms of myself.

My concerns are:

1. Increased taxes. Not just the one's he's already promised but more to come.
2. Huge increase in social programs most of which don't work anyway.
3. Government welfare in the form of checks to those who pay no Federal income tax.
4. No real solution to energy independence.
5. Left wing educational programs that do no concentrate on the "three Rs".
6. More empowerment to school unions. Less choice for parents.
7. Judges who legislate from the bench.
8. Suppression of Freedom of Speech (not to mention the free market place) through the "Fairness Doctrine".
9. Screwing allies such as Columbia.
10. A "Civilian National Security Force" whatever the hell that is.

How's that for a start?

Obama will have free reign if the Democrats control Congress. The markets do far better when Republicans control Congress. Considering the fact that the economy is doing poorly, this could have a devastating effect on America and the world. Additionally, Democrats are known for curtailing 1st and 2nd Amendment rights. For example, the Fairness Doctrine is a clear attack on the 1st Amendment, yet Congress may be able to pass it if they have a super-majority. Their attack on the 2nd Amendment is legendary.

I'm afraid of the assholes who don't want us to defend ourselves, and who think we, the best nation to live in the world, with the highest standard of living and the most power, should kowtow to butchers and lunatics.

he's got the same tax plan as Clinton that led to huge private sector job gains, and our economy has already been shattered - by Bush's Socialist spending practices

and please tell me, what was capitalistic about Bush's medicare law that now gives old people $50 billion of massively subsidized perscription drugs each year?
paid for with my childrens' future tax dollars?

Paperboy, those are interesting and in many ways mirror my concerns with bush years.

Are you bothered that DOJ firings were politically motivated?

Are you bothered that Bush ignored a lot of Allies, or that McCain said something screwy about not meeting with Spain?

Freedom of speech - what about waarantless wiretapping - does this seem like an infringment on 1st amendment liberties to you? Certainly privacy issues....

Social programs we agree, but what about the huge increase in debt and deficit spending under bush compared to Clinton?

Energy independence - not sure if there *is* a real solution but staying on oil doesn't seem the way to go - drilling is fine only so long as you are developing alternatives pronto because oil is NOT SUSTAINABLE.

I always find it interesting that people reach different places to vote from when their concerns are really very similar.

I'm actually voting for Obama and GOP House and Senate candidates. Things were pretty good last time we had a Dem White House and GOP Congress. If only we could get another government shutdown, did wonders for reducing the budget deficit.

Freedom of speech and wiretapping are not the same thing, though that's a nice angle.

Bush had the right to fire the DOJ peeps for whatever reasons he wanted to. Clinton fired what, 97? It's one of the privileges of the president.

I believe that the best defense is strong alliances around the world. I believe that diplomacy and good faith efforts leads to strong alliances. I guess I believe speak softly and carry a big stick is the way to go, and bush yells while swinging his big stick.

We both (you and I) want the US to remain on top. We disagree on the best way to stay there.

The data proves that to be true. However, Obama voted for the unconstitutional bail-out. I would say in general, Obama doesn't seem to understand the Constitution very well.

I am not kidding, and I am not slamming anybody, you asked and here is my answer.

I really really fear the influence the people Obama associated himself with. The Wright, The Rezko, The Farrakam, The Ayres. There is a reason these people were attracted to him and he to him. Radical. And one of the reasons I think I fear it is because Obama has denied knowing they were the people they were. It's even too ugly for him to acknowledge. Why is that?

I'm worried we're going to continue policing the world, being aggressive towards third world nations, that we're going to spend ourselves into deeper financial ruin, and that we'll see further erosion of our civil liberties.
