Did you miss 1 Cor 5:9-13?--It teaches--do not even eat a meal with one who was called brother( baptized) if they become unrepentant, it says remove them from amongst yourselves.
The reason why is they have taken a stand against God and have become his enemy which makes them our enemy as well( Matt 10:36) Jesus teaches a member of ones own household( family) will be an enemy.
They have taken their stand with the world, Jesus said to be no part of this world.

In the OT for unrepentant= stoned to death, and ones family members had to partake of doing that.
ALL should be thankful God altered that decision for shunning, that way they can still turn around and repent and get reinstated.
No JW or Elders like to see any get disfellowshipped, the elders do all they can to try and prevent that. It hurts many hearts each time one is disfellowshipped, but its the unrepentant ones own fault.

Deu 14:2 Because thou art a holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.

This word " BECAUSE " - " BECAUSE " thou are a holy people is used in the Bible - 1231 times total to mean " BECAUSE ".

They were chosen under the conditions and " BECAUSE " they were really a holy people.

The Jews have been through horrible and terrible trials because God lifted His hand of protection from them - just like he promised to do - if they continually continued to disobey Him. God kept His word and The Jews were scattered and persecuted and tormented by the evil people of the world until God returned them back to their homeland and began to protect them once again - we see all of this in the proof - in historical fact.

Just as God promised and prophesied all of this.
