Zone1 What does The Chosen People actually mean?

unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. John 6:53
Exactly!

The flesh of Jesus is just a metaphor for teaching from God, bread from heaven, the food of angels, which implies a more satisfying interpretation of the Law which actually reflects Divine wisdom. To eat the flesh of Jesus is to accept the body of his teaching (which is the Actual Body of Christ) on the figurative nature of the words used and hidden subjects of the Law that fulfills the promise of blessings and eternal life to all who "eat his flesh" and drink his blood, act on it.

Life is in the blood. In the doing.

Unless you fulfill the Laws demands you cannot have the life promised for obedience to it in you.

But they didn't believe in Jesus and they couldn't accept what he was saying because it shocked them like it is shocking you. As a result of this, many [of] his disciples returned to their former way of life and no longer accompanied him. John 6:64-65

Right. They couldn't stomach this saying because without an explanation it was insane. Jesus turned to the twelve who remained and explained himself by saying to them "The Spirit alone gives life; the flesh is of no avail. The words that I have spoken to you are both Spirit and life."

Why do you never address these passages that follow immediately? Never mind. I already know.

Then Jesus asked them if they would leave him too to which Simon Peter replied, "Lord, to whom shall we go? YOUR WORDS ARE WORDS OF ETERNAL LIFE we have faith and know that you are the Holy One of God." John 6:68

You are even worse than the ones who left him. At least they had a rational reason to. You on the other hand are pretending to believe that Jesus was being literal. Now that is even more insane.

Damn. As if it was too painful for you to admit that I am right, even though you know that I am.

Loser.

That's a poor choice of words. Pretending implies they knew better.
Jesus is the one who said they were pretending. In the same exact way that you are pretending.
Full of shit. No one knows that you are a religious actor and lying fraud, a liar, better than you do.

"If you were blind you would not be guilty of sin but because you say, "We see" your guilt remains"

See Genesis 3:14

When Jesus came he taught that he was come only to those of the house of Israel. Later after Jesus' ministry, the gospel was to go unto the Gentiles. Thus the saying, 'to the Jew first and then to the Gentile'. Jesus also taught that the first shall be last and the last shall be first. After the church had fallen into a state of apostasy, in these latter days the church was to be restored to the Gentile first and then unto the Jew thus fulfilling Jesus' teaching. In 1830, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was restored on this the American continent and first spread to the Gentile first and then later to the Jews.
That simply isn't the case. First to the Jew and then to the Gentiles, still applies. When Christ returns, it will be to Israel. And He will set up His kingdom in the city of David and remain with them forever. In fact, Heaven itself is going to descend, and when it does, the location will be Israel. It doesn't mean God loves the Jews more, or that they are more holy. It means God keeps His promises to His friend Abraham.

Rev. 2:2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Folks, stop "interpreting" the Book, and just read it. It is self-explanatory.

Incorrect. And so is everything that follows from that.

I have. You take those passages out of context. Rather than making eating his flesh symbolic like you are trying to do, Jesus let many disciples go who were shocked by his words. It's not a surprise you are shocked by those words, you don't believe Jesus is God. I do. You reject the Gospels in their entirety.

Jesus didn't offer his words as a sacrifice. He offered his body and blood. The flesh is of no avail. It is the spirit that gives life. So stop being shocked over flesh and blood.

This is just you taking more verses out of context so you can rewrite every Gospel to argue Jesus isn't God and Jesus did not sacrifice his body and blood for us.

Jesus bore witness to the truth, the truth that the WORDS used in Divine Law are figurative the subjects hidden and not necessarily directly connected to the literal meaning of the words used as in kosher law where the "flesh" of one creature or another described is either clean or unclean.

The creatures described represent human archetypes their flesh represents their teaching.

This is the Actual Body of Christ.

Unless you accept this teaching of Jesus, "eat his flesh", and "drink his blood", do it, you cannot have the abundant blessings and eternal life promised for fulfilling the Laws demands within you.

Your 'belief' in a 'sacrificial death' so you can sin with impunity for life is a reprehensible delusion.

Thats the way the cookie crumbles.

Deal with it.

Find the scripture that supports that. The one that says it is about the Law and not about remembrance.
I'm going with what Jesus said. His words tell you what He was talking about. When you do this, remember me and the new covenant I give you. He says the opposite of what you have reworked.
New is the opposite of old. You want to keep us all under the deadly Law. Christ had a better plan...

And the WORD, (bread from heaven) became "Flesh" a new metaphor for Divine instruction.

Flesh that is pleasing to the eye and good to eat, flesh that satisfies the soul far more than bread.

I have been watching the TV series Chosen and have questions about 1st Century Jewish life and beliefs:
1. What does "the chosen people" actually mean? Was it a special covenant with God that excluded all other people?
God Chose Israel in the beginning, not just the Jews.

Deuteronomy 7

6 For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

7 The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:

8 But because the Lord loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers,...

However, in the NT the chosen was the church. 1 Peter 2:9

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

However, most Jews remain in the dark.

This is just more of your false narrative to reject the Gospels in their entirety. As you cobble together unrelated passages to deny Jesus is God and Jesus died for our sins as spelled out in the entirety of the Gospels. You reject all supernatural acts of God and won't even credit God with creating the universe. I know of no monotheist anywhere from any religion who rejects God creating the universe.

"Flesh" a new metaphor for Divine instruction
Flesh ~ the soft tissue of an organism, parts of an animal used for food, and the physical being of a person.
Christ became the physical being of a person, and dwelt among us.
It has nothing to do with a more palatable version of Jewish Law. The Law is death. Christ is life.

Romans 8:2 "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death".

Don't worry. You can throw your mind in the trash and demonstrate your love for God by defying the first command at mass and reveal how much you love Jesus by desecrating his teaching and celebrating his crucifixion as if the death of an innocent man can atone for your own sinfulness.

Thats pretty cowardly and reprehensible and God probably noticed but I won't stand in your way.
'
I was just being neighborly. I thought if you were sincere you would save your soul from damnation

Oh well

Eternal life isn't for everyone.

Spoken like a religious nutjob attacking a rival religion.

all of Israel will be saved.
I bear the great seal of the living God. Prophecy fulfilled.
every time you defy the law of my God
I can't see the good in doing what has been forbidden by my God.
you act like you can escape the hand of my God in this world or the next
You brazenly defy the Law that prohibits idolatry...
You are already dead, in hell, and well along the way that leads to endless destruction.
I always do exactly as God commands. I am keystone in the Yahad of God; the habitation of light. No one else in heaven, on earth, or under the earth, can do what I have already done...
You are in hell under the dominion, care, of a spirit of perversity.
You have sold your soul for the satanic lie, a promise that you will receive eternal life when you die physically after living for your entire life like a schnook by doing exactly what the Bible teaches results in death hell and ultimately destruction.
You have set aside the Law of God...
you are an idolator...
I am creating a new heaven and a new earth in full view of all believers and unbelievers alike
I met them. They are not human but they liked me enough to let me fly one of their craft all over the universe. The next day on the front page of the newspaper were reports of a UFO over my city.
I can tell you this, zooming out of this solar system through space and time and popping into another instantly and coming back instantly is a trip!
I thought if you were sincere you would save your soul from damnation...

Thats pretty cowardly and reprehensible and God probably noticed...

Jesus didn't sacrifice his words for our sins. Jesus sacrificed his flesh and blood for our sins.
Jesus didn't sacrifice anything. And he most certainly wasn't sacrificed by God so you can sin with impunity and remain an asshole for life. Jesus taught and demonstrated the only right way to understand the words of the Law that fulfills the promise of eternal life. He revealed a TRUTH and instead of doing the right thing some people chose instead to try to make him look like a nutjob.

Because they were embarrassed, caught prancing around naked acting like they were holy men robbing the dead and taking money from the poor for their theatrics and ritualistic trickery, actors with silly costumes, hats, rituals, candles, incense, ringing bells, and chanting. Oh the chanting!

The funny thing is that you are perpetuating the exact same ignorant interpretation of the Law that your beloved Jesus lived and died opposing. And you celebrate his death as if that saved 'us" from more pain and embarrassment. Whatever the fuck "us", a self negating multiplicity, really is.

It's not what it means but how it is "perceived" to mean. To a Jew it's heady stuff and hard to dismiss. To a Gentile it means Gentiles are lesser. Fighting words and retaliation is in order.
You don't speak for everyone. The term doesn't mean whatever you want it to mean. Words have definitions

You sure must be very insecure. Do you feel inadequate? Does it have something to with size?

Is there something you'd like to share?

Fighting words and retaliation is in order.
You are your own enemy. Have at it!

And you are welcome to follow the law and try to work your way to Heaven, I'll choose Christ's promise to me:

Galatians 2:16 Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.
