Same here and it was a pre-ban. Awkward as hell till it was shouldered.

It was funny though, when I got it (lightly used) came with 16 mags and the carriers. When I sold it I let four mags go with it and kept the rest and sort of forgot about them.

FF to the mag ban era and I "found" them again and sold them for as much as I bought the AUG for in the first place!
Yeah, I had mine for about 2,000 rounds.

It was accurate, reliable, but the crossbolt got hotter than hell after a burst of rapid fire.

Gone

When it all goes down my dead ender weapon of choice ( out of everything in my collection to grab ) is my Chinese type 56 “ Spiker “ AK ( along with my level IV Body armor rig and 6 30 round Military Mags and two Hungarian 20 Round Tanker Mags and my Glock 17 with 6 Mags
Original G3 for me.

Ditto on the AK. All one really needs is something that hits a man-sized target at 100 meters.
Unless your opponent can hit a man sized target at 600.

Prices for pristine ones Brit L3A3 period dated a range from 75.00$ to 150.00$ and another 15.00$ for correct Frog ( got mine at a Pre Covid Ventura Gun Show for 65.00$ ( No Frog )
I have one of each, got them long ago, paid under 40 for each.

I have the L1A1, L1A2, L1A3, and C1 bayonets.

I'm curious as to what battle rifle I should get. Obviously most people prefer carbines, like the AR15, for self/home defense, but I want a rifle that can do more than just defend me and can also be a good hunting rifle. I would rather get a battle rifle than get both a hunting rifle and a defense rifle obviously, so which would you recommend?
What did the Founding Fathers use?

A real battle rifle....FAL....Right arm of the free world.

I prefer an inch pattern SLR because it takes both inch and metric mags.

1959 L1A1 built on a matching parts kit with Imbel receiver.
^ I’d listen to him

No, I am in the downsizing part of my life now.

Me too, within limits.
I'm in the "Get rid of anything you don't need ... but don't forget, you might need it in the near future" part.
I'm at the "if I haven't shot it in 25 years, it can go" phase. There are a couple of special ones that I am holding on to though.

My original early G3 is already promised to a friend, as is my G Series.
