I'm curious as to what battle rifle I should get. Obviously most people prefer carbines, like the AR15, for self/home defense, but I want a rifle that can do more than just defend me and can also be a good hunting rifle. I would rather get a battle rifle than get both a hunting rifle and a defense rifle obviously, so which would you recommend?

The Ruger Mini 14 is a pretty good choice

I might go for the full-size. I like to have some weight snug against my shoulder. Makes me feel comfortable.

There are several good choices

Even the old communist SKS makes a good democrat wacko adjustment tool in a pinch that is not very expensive

I have a British 303, replaced the stock with a synthetic, leopold scope, solid gun from the 50's
easily do whitetail
not the really old WW1 version, later revised version

A real battle rifle....FAL....Right arm of the free world.

I prefer an inch pattern SLR because it takes both inch and metric mags.

1959 L1A1 built on a matching parts kit with Imbel receiver.

You? I'd like to see you purchase one that will blow up in your face.

The Ruger SFAR is the superior choice over the AR-10 if you plan on hunting with it or toting it around a lot.

I bought one and after wringing it out I sold-off my AR-10.

I like the lighter weight. Whats the recoil like?

I love my AR15, but I don't hunt critters.

James has so many I don't keep track anymore.

CA3 ( Real Deal FMP HK 91 / G3 military Parts built with New PTR G3 Receiver / Trunnion / Barrel ) essentially an HK G3 Rifle for well under 1000.00 $

I'm a poor one to judge as I've never been recoil sensitive. I don't think I've ever even noticed it being any worse or better than say an FAL.
Thats fair. FALs do well in the battle rifle class in carbine and Kalashnikov matches.

I saw one, the guy had put rosewood furniture on it. It was beautiful.

LOL.....It depends on how drunk the monkeys at CAI were when it was built. :laughing0301:

That bunch buggered up many a parts kit....Hard pass.
