Was Bombing of Germany a War Crime?

We will have to use this against North Korea, China...possibly Russia.

We will have to use nuclear weapons against North Korea and China?

Are you nuts?

Really there are three issues/options here.

1) If we let fly 600 nukes altogether, US and China, the world dies.
And Russia wins. Some say 300 can do this, I believe them.
As I've looked at the science, and today's nukes are from 3, 6.and
12 times or more powerful and way more radioactive, than the two used to end WWII.

2) Thankfully, NK has few nukes, they will make damages if used well.Say put on them on
ships going after YUGE ports of call. But Most our hits would within 100mi to China's border,
hello radiation for China.

We only have few sites to hit (see map for our payback). The bad part is the radiation
will go into China PERIOD no matter what. So PayBack hits from China and our strikes on China.
That would be the min. 600 nukes set off. That will end the planet over time.

Really, seems it can be wasted with 8 hits.

Nice site here, to explore your chosen first strike damages.
NUKEMAP

3) The Great Orange Douche cares only about himself. If he starts this, history, if written will
list him as one of a few Yuge Bigley League mass murders. If he retaliates, the same again. Either way, that will be IT's label for all time. The Great Orange Yuge Douche Twitler-the killer of the planet.
And the most painful thing after nukes put on NK, Twitter will be down.
So, this is why here, The Great Orange Douche is to pussy to let the nukes fly.

Well, they were dipsticks pandering to political correctness. Japan started the war unfortunately when technology (Ironically driven by people fleeing fascism) developed the A-bomb. Perhaps if Japan had been more humane, and not actually started the war, instead of this poor little us we are victims Japan started this. They lost, it took two A bombs to stop them. That is the Japanese fault.

In WW2 collateral killing of civilians during bombings and the like, wasn't frown on.
It wasn't collateral, they were the target. What other reason is there for bombing dormitory suburbs?

Ok, collateral and targeted killing of civilians was unfortunately practiced extensively by all sides, in order to lower the moral of the enemy to the extent they would give in.

Well...it's destiny. What other options do we have? Wait until Los Angles is evaporated?

Destiny- to nuke China?

Which has hundreds of nukes that can reach the United States?

That is not 'destiny' that is insanity.

Even North Korea- as asshole of a regime it is- is unlikely to actually attack the United States- since the only thing fat boy cares about is staying in power. He certainly will use nukes if his personal safety is directly threatened- but he also knows that the first time he drop a nuke on the U.S. his existence has a duration of minutes, not even hours.

So what do we do? Continue negotiations, build more THAADS, test them more vigorously.

Not just nuke China.
Don't be a chickenshit during trying times.

I don't think we should start a nuclear war with the third most powerful nuclear nation in the world- just because you are off your meds.
So you would let North Korea run your life. Tied down like Gulliver to Lilliputian's.

North Korea hasn't impacted my life at all. Why do you imagine North Korea is running your life?

We have faced opponents with nuclear weapons for close to 70 years- have you always been such a snowflake- really pissed off that others have the power to harm the United States- and advocating we just attack?
North Korea is on a path to kill millions of Americans.

Hmm?.. Cool? Alt-RW dreams come true.

Well, carpet bombing wasn't considered a war crime by the Geneva Conventions until 1977, so no, there were no war crimes committed during WWII.

However, the carpet bombing that was done to Germany, as well as carpet bombing that was carried out in later wars were the reason that it was later made a war crime. Too many civilians were being killed.

Do I think that the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were war crimes? Not really, because before those weapons were used, we had a rough idea of what would happen, but nobody really knew.

And, as far as I know, nuclear weapons aren't outlawed by the Geneva Conventions yet, so the nuking of Japan was considered acceptable warfare.
Had we not seen for real the effects of nuclear weapons in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, we would almost certainly have had WW3.

If we use them against Russia, there will not be a USA or Russia afterwards. MAD is for real.

How U.S. Economic Warfare Provoked Japan’s Attack on Pearl Harbor

How U.S. Economic Warfare Provoked Japan's Attack on Pearl Harbor - Robert Higgs

Accordingly, the Roosevelt administration, while curtly dismissing Japanese diplomatic overtures to harmonize relations, imposed a series of increasingly stringent economic sanctions on Japan. In 1939 the United States terminated the 1911 commercial treaty with Japan. “On July 2, 1940, Roosevelt signed the Export Control Act, authorizing the President to license or prohibit the export of essential defense materials.” Under this authority, “[o]n July 31, exports of aviation motor fuels and lubricants and No. 1 heavy melting iron and steel scrap were restricted.” Next, in a move aimed at Japan, Roosevelt slapped an embargo, effective October 16, “on all exports of scrap iron and steel to destinations other than Britain and the nations of the Western Hemisphere.” Finally, on July 26, 1941, Roosevelt “froze Japanese assets in the United States, thus bringing commercial relations between the nations to an effective end. One week later Roosevelt embargoed the export of such grades of oil as still were in commercial flow to Japan.”[2] The British and the Dutch followed suit, embargoing exports to Japan from their colonies in southeast Asia.

An Untenable Position

Roosevelt and his subordinates knew they were putting Japan in an untenable position and that the Japanese government might well try to escape the stranglehold by going to war. Having broken the Japanese diplomatic code, the Americans knew, among many other things, what Foreign Minister Teijiro Toyoda had communicated to Ambassador Kichisaburo Nomura on July 31: “Commercial and economic relations between Japan and third countries, led by England and the United States, are gradually becoming so horribly strained that we cannot endure it much longer. Consequently, our Empire, to save its very life, must take measures to secure the raw materials of the South Seas.”[3]
Because American cryptographers had also broken the Japanese naval code, the leaders in Washington knew as well that Japan’s “measures” would include an attack on Pearl Harbor.[4] Yet they withheld this critical information from the commanders in Hawaii, who might have headed off the attack or prepared themselves to defend against it. That Roosevelt and his chieftains did not ring the tocsin makes perfect sense: after all, the impending attack constituted precisely what they had been seeking for a long time. As Stimson confided to his diary after a meeting of the war cabinet on November 25, “The question was how we should maneuver them [the Japanese] into firing the first shot without allowing too much danger to ourselves.”[5] After the attack, Stimson confessed that “my first feeling was of relief ... that a crisis had come in a way which would unite all our people.[6]

Bombing of Hanoi as well, it wasn't just WW2. Not to mention Korea

By the time of the armistice, 75 percent of Pyongyang's area was destroyed by the bombing campaign, which was part of a broader U.S. bombing effort throughout the country which cost the lives of nearly 3 million North Koreans by the time the war ended.

Oh, did I just mention Korea?

Already been there and done that.
No time like the present to do it again, proudly, if you want Kim stopped.

Depends on the age of the person. You can't enlist in the military if you are over the age of 35 on your initial enlistment. If you are a prior veteran who did not retire, you must submit a request to be allowed back in. If you are a person who served 20 years or more and retired, you are no longer eligible to come back in, no matter how badly you want to. At least, until a draft is enacted, but then retirees will be at the bottom of the list for re call.

Of the age eligible people in this country, only about 30 percent are actually qualified to serve. Many aren't qualified because of lack of diploma, civil convictions or involvement with the law, drug use, ASVAB scores are too low, or they are physically disqualified because of conditions like asthma or flat feet, just to name a few.

And, although you may have 30 percent of the age eligible population qualified to serve, only about one percent of the people are actually interested in enlisting.

Yeah, this country loves to call for wars, but very few people are actually interested in serving in the military. Saw it when I worked at MEPS Amarillo from 1999 to 2002.

North Korea is on a path to kill millions of Americans.

Actually not.

Right now- based upon what we do know- we can stop any NK ICBM from hitting the United States- between AEGIS and THAAD interceptors.

And again- Fat Boy cares about only one thing- maintaining his power in NK- maintaining his regime. The principle of deterrence still works- because he knows he dies if he attacks the United States with nukes.

Your proposal however, guarantees the loss of millions of lives- including thousands of Americans. NK certainly can have sleeper nukes to set off if NK is attacked. And as pointed out- a nuclear attack on NK not only will harm China- but would be indistinguishable to China from a nuclear attack on China- the arc of our ICBM flying to NK would look just like a nuclear attack on China- and China will respond just like the United States would if it looked like China was launching 20 nukes at New York- but were really nuking Ontario.

And your suggestion that we nuke China- is just suicidal and idiotic.

'untenable position'- meaning Japan was not willing to stop its war in China.

Japan was not forced to attack the United States- Japan had chosen to attack the United States as part of its over all imperial strategy.

There's the idea. THAAD is operated by the Army, and the AEGIS missile defense is operated by the Navy.

When Un launches his next round of ICBM's, tell the Army and the Navy that it's a competition to see who can take out the most ICBM's.

Kinda like an Army - Navy war game.
