Why the US is at War with Iran and Why the War Might Pause but Won’t End (The New Atlas 5.8.2026)

Trump's blockade is a winning move. No money, even if the IRGC holds onto power by brutality for 3 or 4 months.

Ok, like I said, 3 or 4 months of blockade.

I'm not sure what "original timeline" that was? Anyway, we hit 14,000 targets. Now we do project Freedom to open Hormuz while blocking Iran's oil for 3 or 4 months until they collapse. Maybe hitting a few bridges or powerplants would speed that up?
Hitting civilian targets is both immoral and a war crime.

Time will tell if the Generalissimo's plans work even though they are contrary to the advice our top military and intelligence experts.

I'm numb to those concerns for terrorists. Like waterboarding a terrorist is morally wrong. Not in my book.
Anything that hastens the removal of that vicious regime is a very good thing.

So how is the blockade of Iranian oil contrary to expert advice? I call bullsh!t.

p.s. I don't see Trump bragging that he is smarter than his generals now that General Caine and Admiral Cooper are giving the advice.

Under international Humanitarian Law, it is not necessarily a war crime to hit civilian targets, but it is a war crime to target civilians. Both the US and Israel abide by International Humanitarian Law, and neither ever targets civilians.

It is never the job of the President to implement generals' plans; it is always the job of the genrals to implement the President's plans.

You think nuking 9M people just to kill a few terrorists is moral? Wouldn't that united the Iranians even more if you murdered tens of thousands of their kids in a nuclear fireball?

It's not. It's the Iranians blockading tankers from the Arab oil nations that's the problem.

Yet Trump continues to still play Chicken with nuclear bombs. I doubt General Caine anyone else advises such a stance.

A correct point. If Hamas hides a radio station or HQ under a hospital or mosque, it becomes a fair target.

OTOH, just targeting the hospital, mosque or other civilian target is both immoral and a war crime. General Caine would know what's legit and what isn't even if Trump doesn't.

I never said use nukes. Why did you say that?

Hopefully solved by Project Freedom, US escorts for the ships thru Hormuz.

The Orange Jesus said it. I thought you kept up with him? My mistake if you don't.

Time will tell.

The threats to make Iran "glow".

The threats to make Iran "glow".
Key word: "threats". ("glow" doesn't necessarily imply nukes, oil infrastructure burning glows too)
Trump is negotiating a deal with Iran and wants them to know who has the better cards.

Sorry, but "glow" in America means nukes. The American euphemism for fire would "burn" such as "Tehran would burn".

President Donald Trump told reporters that they would know when the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran was over. There would be "one big glow" out of Iran.

Trump is not going to nuke Iran.

Agreed. He's just being his usual blowhard self. It's why the Iranian leaders aren't afraid of him.
They may think they can outlast Trump's blockade, we'll see.
If Project Freedom opens Hormuz its just a matter of time, 3 or 4 months, unless the Gulf states want to settle it now due to the oil spill.

They're betting the cost of the blockade will cause Trump to TACO....again.

When the BBB healthcare costs hit after the Midterms, I'm guessing Americans won't be happy watching their children suffer while Trump continues to run up the national debt and blow a billion dollars a day with his vanity war.

The US blockade is cheap. If you are referring to Iran's blockade, I'm saying Project Freedom opens Hormuz.
If Project Freedom doesn't open Hormuz then its a matter of who can take more pressure, IMHO Trump can.
There better not be a TACO or a NACHO.

The BBB has no healthcare cost. The Obamacare subsidy expires on its own.
Children aren't suffering. The national debt does need to be addressed.
Not sure why the DOGE recommendations weren't implemented yet saving $200b a year.
Check your 401k lately?

Because your tax dollars aren't paying for it? 🤔 Compared to what? Healthcare for American kids?

Project Freedom is showboating. It won't work since all Iran has to do is launch a couple of drones at the tankers. Even if they are shot down, those sailors on the tankers won't be happy and are unlikely to return until the Strait returns to pre-Trump levels.

We're paying for them no matter where they are.
Blocking Iran's oil is a very good "cost-effective" use.

Your opinion. We'll see how it plays out. Iran will be running out of Kamikaze speedboats soon. They get fewer and fewer...

Agreed. Time will tell. You're free to run from my point about drone attacks and run toward suicide boats.
