He's clearly never been to Oakland. It's a beautiful city with some of the best weather in the U.S. Yes, there are bad areas, like any big city, but the quality of life is quite good. My biggest complaints are the inane road diets and the escooters. The latter are going to see their demise before too long, imo. Their business models are nonsense and they create a great deal of hazardous waste.
you mentioned it once but i forgot, what is it again that you prefer oakland over SF again? thanks.
I prefer Oakland over SF for many reasons. Having lived in both, I find that Oakland suits me better. Better weather, a more mixed population (i.e. not all tech bros), and a nice combo of urban amenities and small neighborhoods. Plus, It was good to be nearby when my Dad had his stroke and was needing help.
The weather really? I thought since they are so close to each other that the weather in one city was always identical to the other?
Yeah in all the crap that people sprout off about Oakland being a shithole and all that blah blah blah blah, they only refer to the ghetto places there, they never show the rich and nice beautiful houses and NICE neighborhoods they have there.

a net friend of mine in fact was walking the streets with his camcorder debunking the myth that SF is far superiour than oakland. He was showing these very nice houses in a beautiful part of oakland in the rich parts and saying-"Look folks, people always make jokes about our city here, that this is brokeland. Yeah this sure looks like brokeland to me"

He so much educated everybody and took them to school debunking that myth.
YOU should make a thread of it sometime posing the pics of the nice houses there and the beautiful parts of the city as well and post it in the general discussion sections as well to debunk that myth to everybody that posts here.
Like you said so well, sure there are some ghettos there but every city has them and SF is no exception as i proved, yet SF never gets the unfair rap as a city oakland gets for some reason.
